Yup, that tune is just... amazing. I sat with my jaw dropped the first time I listened to it and then promptly rewound it for myself. It will get played on my show later today for sure...
That new Daniel Salvo tune is the mutts nutts too. The whole comp is really good, not a bad tune on it. I just wish more of them were around 70/140 bpms... guess Ill have to keep writing my own at that speed.

One of the best things about Serato is the auto BPM feature... its become a must for spinning Skweee. Most of the tunes on the MoMSII comp are 90-100bpm though other than Eero's and one other one at around 80...

WHATAFAC !!! a must ???
no doubt a good help, but it cant be much worse than mixing 70's funk!
You won't get that clean "fade inn/fade out" sound, but there's more ways of mixing than one . . .
And knowing the tunes and the floor will be the key!
that said, i'm still having some trouble mixing it myself . . .

with this though, as with a lot of classic disco stuff, is that it is recorded live and will go out of time pretty easily as opposed to programmed beats that will STAY in time. Iv found, with the disco stuff anyways, that quick cuts in, and fast fade outs are the way to go...

yes! tight selection, finding the right break and then boom, the next tune!
everything is on the one!!!
been puttin' down a lot of work to actually mix with funk 5-10 years back
but now i'm way off . . .
disco is much more like produced music though . . . but still recorded live . . .
Like some of that oldschool funk ? not much electrofunk though . . .
check a mix I recorded early 2000 . . .
20min. madness . . .
canned phunk.mp3

will cop this when i get home man, and yea, the disco stuff is sort of semi produced, but still recorded live and hence wont like, STAY in time like programmed beats.
Im gona stick my italo warm up in here, few tracks on that had to be quicker cuts (or constant monitring and adjustment) the prince number, the stevie wonder track and midas touch...

OK, maybe not a
must but its damn helpfull.
@ Freebentos - its still all programed beats, they just play live over the top. They dont necessarily quantize everything though, which is both part of the charm and vibe of it (for me anyway) and what makes it feel like the tunes are falling out of time. Except for Randy's stuff (I think). One of them was saying how they have a sequencer that falls out of time "in just the right way"....
@ Spiro - not all skweee falls on the one either. There are a few tunes that start on the 2 or 3...

yea man, i was tlakign more about the dsico and shit, I assumed all the skweee stuff was programmed but meant to be a bit all over the place. Excuse my lack of production speak as I really dont have a clue...
