what are you on?!?! the uk hip-hop sence is sic! !
in terms of whats better, uk or us hip-hop you cant compare them, totally different kettle of fish, uk has that raw brithish grit that i love and it doesnt take it take itself too seriously, plus theres none (or hardly any) of that gangster bollocks that the us has.
but dont get me wrong, i love us hip-hop.
Thats my rant over...
then why do all the uk "grime" mc's and other uk hip hopper mc's talk about being so ganster and about knowbody is as gangster as they??? listen to all the grime mcs... none of them have ever been to a real hood, sold or cooked any dope, popped a mag, ran a prostitution ring, had to get jumped in a real gang and couldnt leave for fear of there life, held up a man, etc. etc etc... or even lived in a real project establishment. but look at them talk about being gansta in all there songs?? whats with that? if any of u gets a chance to meet wiley or dizzie or whoever, ask em what set they rep...

About .0000000001% of the American population cares about electronic music...
...But when you find somebody out here that loves a sub genre of elecronic, they'll love it until their grave and long after all the UK heads have moved onto something else.
That's what defines America for me. People are hardcore into things here. England always seems to fickle and subject to fashion or 'progression' or whatever you want to call it.
I'm amazed to find pockets of people all over the country who are still really into things that I thought had long passed. Amazing and surprisingly heartwarming.

give me some lyrics saying that grime mcs "sold or cooked any dope, popped a mag, ran a prostitution ring, had to get jumped in a real gang and couldnt leave for fear of there life" and i'll ask them. I sometimes see Dizzie in my local kebab so i'll wait around there to ask him for you
ps; we don't have projects in the UK

reading over this again is jokes. where do you think grime music started then? its street music you numpty, i dont think theyd have as much credibility if they were spitting about the things they do if it wasnt stuff theyd experienced or grown up around

Just as much shit going on in London council estates (projects) as anywhere in the US[quote]
agreed, but was just pointing out that all of the examples he used are Americanisms. Can't imagine or think of any grime MCs with the ability to run a prostitue ring for example

...but please, correct me if im wrong..

Its bloody garage.
Bassline is short for Bassline House. It is
not Garage. Listen to the beat. It's clearly a House beat, not a Garage beat. It's not even 4x4 Garage. Sure there is lots of influence from Garage, but it is not Garage. Just listen...
Alrite it might be a bit faster but a massive majority of it is identical to 4x4 or speedgarage, all the chopped up vocals, the bassline melodys.
They are just tryin to remarket garage with a new name so everyone thinks WOW another new genre.
