there allready are hundreds of shit dubsteppers, just because they're doing something on dubstep doesn't mean the entire readerbase of cm is going to join the forum posting shitty tunes.
and anyway, it'll probably be incredibly generic and pointless, rubbish samples with advice on how to get 'that perfect wobble' or skank, or whatever.

Got my copy of this today through the post. Looks pretty good. Got the standard ComputerMusic format of breaking down each part of the track. Got a little history of Dubstep too. Gonna delve into the samples this weekend and see what they're like.

as far as i could see there wasn't a single mention of the word wobble. most i could find was a small section called "Bass in the place" on page 32:
"Simply insert a low-pass filter over your bassline and automate its cutoff frequency. or use the built-in filter on your sampler, connecting the cutoff to and LFO and automating the LFO speed for some really crazy sounds."
all-in-all i think it was a good look into dubstep, didn't give to much away, no "This is how you make dubstep" more of a gentle push in the right direction. and it did keep mentioning that dubstep was all about breaking the mould and not following all the rules. i think it gave just enough away and if i read that not knowiong what dubstep was i would imediatly want to know more. +1 for CM.

Future music + Computer Music mags are made and marketed for 14-17 year olds
Get ready for the barrage of 14 year old reason users (not dissing reason, we all start somewhere) making tracks out of brick-a-brack and spilling their strawberry milk over their half wobble basslines.
I prefer SOS, it delves a bit deeper into this rabbit hole called music

Yeh, think i'll suscribe to SOS, Computer music is good, but half the mag is reviews.

Don't get me wrong, i have subscribed to Future Music + Computer Music in the past, but each issue covers the same stuff every month. They repeat articles dressed up differently

they did a thing on d&b recently, which raised an eyebrow... until i read the first interview w/ logistics, in which he discussed inspiration (on one hand), and some pretty involved reason programming (on the other).
computer music does this type of shit pretty well.
funny how no one was crying woe for the scene w/ the benga vid posted a few months ago. how is this intrisically different?
if it gives someone with inspiration and a voice to develop a better clue on how to develop-- excellent. if not, the world hasn't died under the weight of 1,000 same-sounding 140bpm wobblers, and it's not gonna with a few more.
out to everyone makin tunes!

I picked it up, it wasn't as gushy as I have come to expect from CM, and some of the samples weren't too bad tbh.
Still some clangers in there, but hey.... they didn't go overboard about wobble.

Haven't listened to the samples, but I thought the article made a decent job of a very hard task... they essentially gave some ideas for production techniques but said "Well, we can't really tell you much about your arrangement and sound as it's such a broad genre"... which is true. Dubstep's becoming almost a treatment rather than a genre... like you can Dubstep up stuff that sounds like it should be Techno, Hip Hop, DnB/Jungle, Dancehall, House etc etc...
