on 99% of systems (ie the shite ones) they make things sound better because they filter out the distorted trashy treble, and they make it easier to hear people. they often make it easier to DJ for the same reason.

I always wear them now.

I've recently started using a pair of E.A.R Classic II's.

They were free at some night I went to, probably the worst they get when it comes to ear plugs, but they have saved me on a couple of occaisons. Only problem is that I'm never sure if they're in far enough/properly, and constantly paranoid their gonna fall out.

Same same!!! They ring al the time really, have done for about 5 weeks now, too many freeparties and raves well savage cos I dont really like wearing earplugs, especially when mixing infront of people and that, cos I wanna hear as good as possible, which is obviously without any earplugs in!!

Some people must be much more prone than others to getting tinnitus.

That's the only reason I can think of why some people go to gigs/clubs/raves for years with no problems, whilst I have a bit of ringing when in a silent room.

It's quite nice to have the sometimes nasty treble sounds blocked out with ear plugs.

Not only that, but do you have any idea what dB level your looking at even with the windows closed? It give you ear fatigue, especially for 8 hours a day.

A day in the studio will tell you enough about damaging your ears. After a while I can actually feel them getting soar so yeah I can totally appreciate the need for earplugs.

I always wear earplugs when I go to concerts. I leave em off for the most time in clubs around here though as it's not that loud. I would appreciate if venues sold earplugs at the door (seen this many times in the US when I attended shows). Some venues in Germany started doing that as well. I use the ER20's. Those cheap earplugs tend to only cut off the high end, so concerts can sound quite dull, the ER20's are more balanced yet affordable plus you can clean them with ease.

Indeed. Plugs are essential. Only wish I'd bought myself a pair sooner as I get pretty bad ringing bouts due to the years of naked exposure.

Or maybe the ringing becomes the norm and they can't tell the difference? I heard that if the average club goer went to the north/south pole, that due to the pure silence they would hear the ringing constantly, go mad and commit suicide (well the first part at least).

Just about to buy some Proplugs from Chemical, but I've never worn earplugs before - would people recommend getting them with the leash or without?

I guess it's a case of how easy it is to lose them without VS the likelihood of people pulling them out if you've got a cord dangling from your ears?

got them yesterday and it's like christmas and birthday together.

with other earplugs i always felt disconnected from the music and my environment, but those are a different level! crystal clear!

ive used some a few times but they were the disposable ones that you get for working on machinery and the music sounded a bit wierd. i really wanna try these but the size system looksa bit confusing even with the printout they have
