its funny to see them be adopted as the place to go for mastering by a scene which values sound quality and BASS.
There is a LOT cheaper and BETTER place to master in the uk right now
Precise , Heathmans , Metropolis , Masterpeice are head and shoulders above transition and cheaper.
I will trust my friend for mastering over transition any day.. and who wants to go to the same place as everyone else? doesnt that take away from defining your labels 'sound'? having everything mastered and cut by the same place as many others in the dubstep community makes all the releases that come from those studios sound the same.

Bullshit!
Not gonna comment on who's better than who, get a dub cut and decide then.

Yeah, I don't know anything about mastering (except it's important :p), but if Transition sucked, all the big producers wouldn't get their tracks mastered there or cut their dubs there.
I think, if I ever produce a track that isn't shit, I'm gonna get my dub at Transition. How much does a master from them cost (average, for one track)?

Transition doesn't suck.
But Precise cut what I believe to be a superior-sounding master in the blink of an eye.
Possibly it was that Transition was quite busy when they were cutting my masters. I still thought the Transition master for 002 was good, but 003 sounds alot better IMO.
Could be a variety of reasons for this, i suppose.

The highs / general mix of my "DJ Madd - Numbers" plate are super crunchy and distorted.

your mastering engineer/company doesn't define your label's sound, you do (or at least, you should!)

thats why i can always easily tell what tunes are getting mastered at the same place.. its the same gear, or the same software, and the same person or people doing the work.. personal traits cary over in their work when mastering.. and i for one want some originality in how my labels tunes sound...

you don't get an original sound for your label from the mastering, not sure what you're trying to say really

I keep getting sent warped records.
When I pay 5quid for a record (actually more like 7 inc. P+P) from a major online record retailer I do not expect to get a faulty product. And its not because of 'damage in transit' as its always 1-2 out of 5 that are dispatched that are warped.
Shameful stuff

Hmmm... Only complaint I've heard so far, has anyone else had any problems? Sounded fine for me... Nice cut on the b-side
If you like i'll send you a wav to compensate

Please can you back up those statements with some facts; Hiding behind an alias is cowardly.

A mastering engineer is a translator .The betters the mix the better the cut and communication is key.

Since IPC in Nottingham closed it has been difficult to get the same consistency else ware, this is the main reason that we no longer do brokerage deals. There are still some good plants in the UK but you have to seek them out.

what you make (production) is what you get mastering wise tweaking and levelling can be done at this stage but that's about it, remember manufacturing stage? not all plastic is the same or new, it's cheaper to melt down old records and recycle this sometimes causes problems..

dunno why people are laying in to mastering houses, if you really think this is the problem then surely its up to the artist/label to accept or decline a master once it has been done.. never seen so much bollocks in my life as i have on this website in the last few months especially
