Leaving text incase anyone has same prob
Forgive me for 2nd question in a single day
I'm trying to programme the mod wheel in thor to control the LFO 1 rate so I can use automation to variate a b line, but I can't figure it out...
In the Thor programming bit, I've selected the source as LFO1, the destination as LFO1 Rate, and finally the Scale as the mod wheel.
I've tried fiddling the amount numbers, but I can't seem to get the desired effect. I'm trying to utilize to full 4/1 to 1/32th so ideally 4/1 would be the bottom of the mod wheel, and 1/32th would be at the top.
Is this a good techique to make an automation, or would it be easier to re-create the devices and tracks seperately for each differing rate?
TIA

hah dont worry, its not a problem
ok so you want ot mod whell to control your lfo 1 rate yeh?
this is how to do it, open up your patch in thor 1st then open up the programmer(the little button on the left hand side). Once that is open, want to want to do it go to the "source" and "dest" in the source put mod wheel which can be found in performance. then in the dest put lfo rate. and that should work now. ok if that don't work d.w its really just the normal way people do it, edit auto the rate its simple as what for example when you want to be 1/16 draw in a box and put the rate to 1/16 and then when you want to go go back to 1/8 just put 1/8 back. however this can become abit messy at times

Does anyone know the latest version of Reason that used Rewire v1? I know Reason 4.0 uses Rewire v2, but I'm using an old host so does Reason 3.0 use Rewire v1?
Thanks very much, that works a treat. Do you know what frequencies each band covers? Can you change them? Ideally I'd like:
band 1 to be 20Hz - 120Hz
band 2 to be 120Hz - 1200Hz
band 3 to be 1200Hz - 4000Hz
band 4 to be 4000Hz - 20000Hz

Any tips on how/why to use this?
Create a combinator, load it as a patch.

Im having trouble with redrum, I assumed that i could just run patterns and record them, but that doesnt seem to work. I know this is a noob question, but im not sure what how to make this work.

Right click redrum then go to "copy pattern to track"

Is it possible to get a combinator with 8 knobs and buttons? Now I know how to use the Combinator properly it's a great tool.

This feature may or may not be dded to Reason 5... Just don't get your hopes up....

ok i barely use the nnxt or the nn19 in reason. if i want to dump samples into the program it's usually short stuff so i just load it into the redrum. now i want to start experimenting with the samplers. when i connect the redrum to the nnxt (or nn18) to have a redrum step trigger the nnxt it never works. i just get this weird kick stick like sound. the sound is extremely short.
is it even possible to trigger the nnxt by the redrum?
what i want to actually do is have 10 samples in 10 different nnxts and then use the step sequencer from the redrum to program the samples.

Th Redrum has to trigger modes, mode 1 = gate and mode 2 = envelope.
In 'gate mode', everytime the Redrum recieves a midi 'note on' message the whole sample plays.
In envelope* mode, the midi 'note on' message needs to be as long as the sample itself. In otherwords, you'd actually have to go into the sequencer pianoroll and draw full length notes for every drum. This is cool for extreme glitch style drums cuz you can cut drum samples off before they have played fully.
The Redrum has a switch on each channel strip to set the gate mode. Read the manual to find it if you're lost...
The samplers both use the 'envelope' mode of triggering samples, meaning you'll need to draw full length notes in the sequencer pianoroll to hear the sample in its entirety.
You can get around this by setting the ADSR on each sample to 127 Decay and 127 Sustain. Set the Release so that you can hear the whole sample play.
*Technical names may be incorrect hehe

You need to read the section in the manual about the combinator.
To cut a long story short, hold down shift whilst you select each device you want to save together as a patch, right click on one of them after they are all selected and click 'combine'. The devices will now be contained within the combinator (which is essentially just a box). You can now save the combinator patch for later reuse. All the settings of the devices within the combi will be retained the next time you load up that combi patch.
The combi can also be used to tie multiple controls on the devices within the combi to one control on the front panel of the combi. Read the section of the manual to find out how its done!!!

ok when i have the maximizer as the last thing in my signal chain before the sound goes to the output. i don't have a clue about mixing or anything and most of my "producing" is done on my bed with a pair of headphones. i'm just wondering what level should i let the audio get to on the maximizer? should i leave it just be hitting the red or do i need to have it lower than that? i'm not looking to send my stuff away to be mastered or anything. at most i just want to stick them up on myspazz

Depends on how compressed you want your mix to be. If you don't want to raise the overall volume at all, then leave the level below the redline. If you want to get a few more decibels out of your tune, 'max' it out and raise the output volume to its fullest!
This thread about mixing and compression may be of interest to you? --->

There's ways you can link combinators together, so you either get the control from both, or you get the audio from both. It's all a bit longwinded. But some more controllers on the face would be nice.

Explain how it's done my good man!
