Give some of the one's I mentioned a go. You might be pleasantly surprised!

Maybe I wouldn't listen to every track that's perfectly true, but I'd listen to the majority of them. The same could be said of pretty much all the albums listed above too I feel.

The Boxcutter and Scuba albums are the standout one's there. Happily listen to those all the way through - the others I've got mixed opinions on. That Skull Disco one isn't really an album in the truest sense is it? (although there's not a duff release on the whole back catalogue!).

Yea Glyphic really is an amazing album...as is A.M.A

I believe much of this was actually produced in 1994 - I saw Fabio review "Salsa Flavour" in Atmosphere magazine that year, for instance and the tunes certainly have a 94 production feel to them. However, they are streets ahead of much contemporary Drum & Bass in terms of subtlety and execution.

The aforementioned "Salsa Flavour" is a real fusion between Salsa and Drum & Bass. All the Brazilian influenced D thats coming out now falls flat in comparison with this gem. The whole album is brillant though, dont pass it up if you see it 2nd hand! "

Jungle/D&B kinda gave birth to Garage/Dubstep anyway. Much like if not for House (and disco before it) we wouldn't have what we listen to today.

I've been listening/DJing D&B for over 10 years now, also spin Dubstep. The former is definitely still my favourite genre of music, although I like the tempos to change up a bit these days. There is a lot of D&B these days that goes halfstep - check out some Amit, Digital & Outrage, SumOne for some examples.

On the album thing, i dont feel dubstep or DnB is really an album centred genre. It works better as a series of singles and EP's in my opinion.

Having said that there are some sick albums in each genre but i dont think you can judge based on them.

Both terms are very broad, so broad that they overlap. Not necessarily in tempo, but I've definately heard tracks from one "genre" that sounded like the other.

It seems like a lot of people here are die hard junglists from time. That includes most of the producers. I know that Mala for one was a junglist before he started listening to reggae and his first home productions were jungle (RBMA interview). Then you have all the dnb producers that are making dubstep or dnb that's very dubstepper friendly. House is a feeling.

Some great compilations there. Label ompilations are where the genre really came into it's own.

You didn't mention the original 'Drum & Bass Selection 1' though. I've listened to that about once a month for the last fifteen years!

Not heard that one, got 'Drum & Bass Selection 2' though, which is also quality

In the past couple of years I've really tried to encompass varies elements into my D&B sets. I usually lean towards the darker end of the spectrum, as well as incorporating tempo changes to spice things ups.

Montrealers reffer to jungle as sample based (amen or otherwise) music, often relating to soundsystem culture, often relating to ragga and genereally warmer sound as opposed to dnb with its programmed drums and generally crisper sound... can't really find a very clear way to explain what I mean but I think you guy's will get the picture

most ex-Toronto heads I know who moved out here will have a similar definition of the whole jungle vs. dnb... same for the Halifax crew... not to sure about the van-city people though... as for the states I havnt got a clue. But it'd be pretty interesting to find out seing how alot of genre definitions seem to vary from city to city

As for myself, I like most jungle but am quite selective when it comes to dnb... I just cannot stand liquid funk... But all in all, I am more of a fan of dubstep than dnb or jungle
