dont mind Skepta - Look Out ft Giggs at all tbh

really?Rekordah wrote:Do people really need to give reasons why they enjoy some music more than others? Is it really that black and white? I think that it's a sign of the quality and power of some music that you can't explain what it is exactly that you like about it, it just has that indescribable something.Piston wrote:just seems odd to me when people don't give reasons...
And besides, do you really expect me try and reason with you when you seem so relentlessly, and aggressively, set in your ways? I'd gladly have a reasoned conversation with someone about what I think the advantages of mainstream over underground are (namely more creative and innovative production by the way), but with you it just seems like I'd be stepping into some pointless e-squabble and I really can't be arsed with that.
i like any music if it's good be it mainstream or underground...i like timbaland and radiohead as well as herbie hancock and billie holiday and nina simone...they have sold a few records i believe but maybe i need to check that....if you define someone disagreeing with you as pointless for debate then i think you just don't want to be disagreed with
That is rather an odd statement.Piston wrote:too an extent though you are right as there is little coming out but mainstream hip-hop atm...this is due to all the money being thrown at the music that keeps the poor folk wanting more stuff....
no bro its still not clearPiston wrote:Rekordah wrote:Piston wrote:but my point was pretty clear was it not?
haha i'm poor matedhaywood wrote:Piston wrote:Rekordah wrote:no bro its still not clearPiston wrote:but my point was pretty clear was it not?
all this business about consuming, i dont know about all of that... i just listen to music

he's certainly a lot more positive than the black eyed peas...
peace fellas
No mate, I'm perfectly happy to be disagreed with, but I define responding to this as pointless...Piston wrote:if you define someone disagreeing with you as pointless for debate then i think you just don't want to be disagreed with
It was never gonna be a mature and reasoned debate, was it?Piston wrote: how the fuck could you qualify that statement?
it hasn't....it's mostly shit...
No, it really isn't. I've tried really hard but I still don't understand what you're saying. How does the "status quo of how people think" allow majors to "divide people" or "ultimately keep people consuming through the things they consume"? Sorry man but it just seems like a massively confused argument, not to mention one majorly based on a conjecture-filled, anti-establishment, conspiracy theory style paranoia.Piston wrote: seems pretty straighforward to me really....
i meant that if the things people consume encourage them to consume more then the only real winners are the major labels in league with the bankers/military companies that secretly own the conglomorates that own vivendi universal, sony etc etc..Rekordah wrote:No mate, I'm perfectly happy to be disagreed with, but I define responding to this as pointless...Piston wrote:if you define someone disagreeing with you as pointless for debate then i think you just don't want to be disagreed with

As dhaywood has said, just listen to music. I'm not going to lie, I used to be very similar to you in my tastes and my feelings toward mainstream Hip-Hop, until I realised that letting politics govern your taste in music is pretty stupid. Always approaching things with an open-mind is the best way, I reckon that if you gave the mainstream stuff more of a chance you might start to see how creative some of it is.
I dont like to troll these daysPiston wrote:groups like cannibal ox get slated by 'real' hip-hop heads when they are superior in every way save for it's lack of accessibility to morons used to music doing nothing but talking about stuff (material possessions), shooting people, back in the day, which gang you roll with, how you did so so well to get out of the ghetto, fucking etc etc etc
