Could murrrrder student finance right now.
Despite me ringing 3 seperate times (totaling over £30 in mobile costs) regarding a change of course, filling in all the information online and ringing again to check that it was all acceptible: it then being accepted and me signing documents to confirm that, they have still managed to accept me for a lower amount on my old course (which I didn't sign for and shouldn't exist on system considering I changed all the details on the account with an agent). I had to ring again only to find the agents all told me wrong each and every time and I have to print out and fill in 64 pages of documentation and re-apply aaaall over again (could take months) annnnnnd you can't log a complaint over the phone, you have to email. Fucks sake.

My housemate who's doing a degree in music has been writing and essay claiming that real music doesn't exist anymore and that anyone programming music instead of playing it has zero musical talent. I asked her about what she thought of Conlon Nancarrow writing music for player piano so he could write music that is literally impossible for humans to play. She said "Who's that?"
I wouldn't mind but she arrogantly claimed she could destroy me in a debate about the subject then ran off and said she wouldn't talk about it when I bought Nancarrow up and basic concepts within man-machine interaction based ergonomics to argue why programming music was still music but was just shifting the power of playing it to a machine. Like controlling a complex factory compared to digging a hole with your hands or the next step up a shovel. That although operating a computer takes less physical effort you could be doing something incredibly complex using it and even if you somehow thought that you having no direct contact with the sound meant that you were somehow lazy it was still in fact music.
I even asked her if she'd ever heard of writing algorithm based generative music and she said she hadn't after going on about her extensive research into the ideas of what is and isn't music and how she could destroy me if we talked about it.
Pathetic. She even said at one point that Steve Reich thinks electronic music isn't music even though he wrote music based in technology such as his tape machine phase music and has described electronica an dance music as the folk music of today.
She deserves to fail with an essay like that

Was making a tune yesterday, got a nice swing on the hats through trail and error. A really nice melancholic synth and chord progression and it was something I could of come back too. I wake up this morning, open my laptop, windows updates shuts down my computer and I didn't even fucking sace it.

I doubt I'll be able to live in Glasgow again, I've been out of it for 7 years and forget what a grim place it is/can be.

To be fair though, this kinda shit happens everywhere. Just gives u a chill when it happens on your doorstep! But don't blame u for moving away from Glasgow. Love the city, but don't plan on spending my life here. Where you at now?
