Also, adopted a labrador crossed with something else that my brother got off a friend too. She's been used for breeding for 10 years, is nervous as fuck, covered in scars and was kept in a shed on her own her entire life. Treating her like a queen for the last few years of her life, hopefully I can get her to trust humans again. In the past few days she's got confident enough to eat around me and to eat food out my hand, which is a big step from the cowering wreck she was a few days ago. She had a super severe ingrown toenail too (curved right around and was growing in to her pad), so I cut it today as small as I could without cutting the vein, cleaned the wound with sterile water. Never been a fan of dogs, but this one is really lovely. Hopefully a few years of happiness can make up for her life of cruelty.
