Thats one of two of my fav books! Nice! What are you using? Its so liquidy that it looks like watercolor but since I only use acrylic, I have no idea. I like that I can see the canvas texture through the colors. Thanks for postin! :)

i dont know that book sorry. it is actually a self portrait tho :)
the colours are more vivid in real life - they didnt scan brilliantly.

theyre all acrylic on canvas. but i use acrylic like watercolour.

its an awesome book. "Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man" by James Joyce...completely worth the read!

I must say I'm amazed. My biggest trial with acrylic is that I'm trying to find ways to mess with translucence and texture. I don't wanna switch to oils cuz i'm stuck on acrylic....but I didn't know you could make it as thin/thick/opaque/translucent as you wanted.

Well....thats awesome. I have sooooo much to learn :oops:

without sounding condescending.
more water - more translucent and "filmy"
more paint - more opaque & thick

thats all i do :)

hehehe no i get it. my friend told me about some kind of sand/gravel thing i could buy to add texture to my acrylics too. I'mna do some experimenting later on tonight! Thanks for the heads up :D
