still a fucking tune though, absolutely killed the dancebaddis98 wrote:that vocal pretty much ruins the tune for me. i mean putting 3 lines (pitched up way too fast) of one of the biggest dancehall lovers tunes of 2010 on some aggy tear out bit... wtf? that doesnt even sound like a serious attempt of a remix to me, more like messing around with vdj or whatever software. don't really see the point of using it.
cos it sounded big. Does it really have to be more than that? Its not coki trying to break new ground in the world of production, hes just trying to wreck a dancefloor. Had never heard either the coki tune or the vocal till that night, and it actually totally transformed the track. It went from "ohh coki..." to sounding really unusual but big in a strange way. Then the bassline from anti war dub...ahembaddis98 wrote:that vocal pretty much ruins the tune for me. i mean putting 3 lines (pitched up way too fast) of one of the biggest dancehall lovers tunes of 2010 on some aggy tear out bit... wtf? that doesnt even sound like a serious attempt of a remix to me, more like messing around with vdj or whatever software. don't really see the point of using it.
yeah the vocal is totally misplaced.baddis98 wrote:that vocal pretty much ruins the tune for me. i mean putting 3 lines (pitched up way too fast) of one of the biggest dancehall lovers tunes of 2010 on some aggy tear out bit... wtf? that doesnt even sound like a serious attempt of a remix to me, more like messing around with vdj or whatever software. don't really see the point of using it.
thats exactly my point. just wondering what thoughts run through his mind when choosing THAT tune.particle-jim wrote:still a fucking tune though, absolutely killed the dancebaddis98 wrote:that vocal pretty much ruins the tune for me. i mean putting 3 lines (pitched up way too fast) of one of the biggest dancehall lovers tunes of 2010 on some aggy tear out bit... wtf? that doesnt even sound like a serious attempt of a remix to me, more like messing around with vdj or whatever software. don't really see the point of using it.
...also, it's not a remix, it's a coki tune, he just decided to put a small chunk of an acapella on it
Hahahaha same here.. I was like what the hell is going on.. Only two decks.. the vocal suddenly kicks in and few sec later AWD. Total madness!Although, I actually thought it was just mala on some seriously epic 3 deck mixing ting!
I think youre wrong. I dont think cokis producing music like that.baddis98 wrote:thats exactly my point. just wondering what thoughts run through his mind when choosing THAT tune.particle-jim wrote:still a fucking tune though, absolutely killed the dancebaddis98 wrote:that vocal pretty much ruins the tune for me. i mean putting 3 lines (pitched up way too fast) of one of the biggest dancehall lovers tunes of 2010 on some aggy tear out bit... wtf? that doesnt even sound like a serious attempt of a remix to me, more like messing around with vdj or whatever software. don't really see the point of using it.

"hmm lets put a vocal on it. but which one? ok lets see whats on the top three dancehall charts. ok i like these two, so im gonna flip a coin. it's a smooth lovers tune but fuck that!"
yeah, pretty much thisPinUp wrote:I love that vocal line in duppy sour sap! makes me smile while im going crazy!
i wouldnt say that but my idea of a vocal tune is that the vocal and the instrumental should complement each other and have the same vibe. and i don't see how a relatively smooth lovers tune suit a pretty aggressive tear out beat. i understand the concept of ruff lovin and i understand the concept of weh dem a do (coki remix), but i just don't get the concept of that duppy soursap tune. vocal and instrumental aren't complementing each other, they're clashing. don't know how to explain it any better. but each to his own i guess...the wiggle baron wrote: So...I just dont get the problem lol it doesnt follow the rules of how to make dance music? ehhm.
