Great find guys, wallpapered!
How do you copy your automatiation and drag it about with moving the actual music again? Sure someone mentioned it on here a while ago.

So I got a question; how do you quantize automation? When I draw in my lines, I always miss the bar by just a bit and have to scroll in and adjust; but it seems like I could just keep scrolling in/adjusting forever sometimes. Is there a quick way to snap automation points to the grid or something?

What he said, need to know how to do that too... always miss by a beat or so when working zoomed out.
Cheers symetrical, but I think there's a way to do it when the automation is on a track part.

Another question, how do I get a sample I drop in to echo out to fade instead of ending abruptly. If I put a ping-pong echo on simple delay the effect only lasts as long as the sample instead of trailing out to fade.

highlight the section of music you want to automate, then click on the automation line and drag it up or down. it will quantize the left and right boundaries of your highlighted section.

Yeah, I'm finding it a lot more stable than 8.1 - plus you also get a new distortion plugin 'amp', haven't really looked into that much yet - but yeah worth downloading in my opinion.

Is it possible to record just the sounds of the effects put on a signal and not the actual signal?

If you've got it setup that you're sending your sound source to a return and simply want to record the return then yeah it's simple. Create a new audio track, then route the return into it through the I/O. Click the dropdown menu on the return (it will be saying master by default), select the track you want to send it too - change the monitor setting to 'In' on this track - press record. Done

Crtl + B = Pencil tool, that will snap the automation to the nearest grid point, although it will always come out square, so you need to play wit it a bit.
