Don't think I'll be purchasing from idle hands again.. Had an issue with them with my vinyl being unplayable. admittidly it was probably royal mails fault, but ive paid £13.50 for a record that i have to throw away. they sent out on hottest weekend of year and could of wrote on package do not leave outside or something. when i emailed them at first was told he was on holiday (I have no qualm about) then when he eventually got back to me was very rude and basically told me hard luck. Not even a pound off if I re order or anything. Seems like he's got my money now and doesn't give a shit. Maybe I'm just too used to Tom at redeye I dunno but fuck em.
I'll just wait till red eye gets the re presses from now on

to be fair man - hard luck! aint Idle Hands fault at all, who expects some rasclaat postman to leave it in the sun? I have never in my entire life seen someone write 'dont leave in the sun' on a record package Idle Hands aint a big web store like Redeye or Chemical that could probably afford to hook you up with another one. its just one dude in a physical shop that probably is barely breaking even. Long shit like this might happen, but any order you do make from there you are supporting a good cause. fair play if u don't use em anymore but don't hold it against them, or go around bad mouthing them as im sure they don't need it.

I think it's up to £20.00, you are better off contacting the royal mail and next time telling your postman not to leave packages shaped like records at the door.
At least you have some nice album art. :6:

Yeh but I wasn't expecting a free record or anything, a few manors and abit of sensitivity go a long way. Way I saw it was he's got my money now.. Matter is out of his hands.
I thought a smaller shop would have had better customer service.
Not even a reassurance as to if I order another one it won't happen again..
I for one can't afford to spend £13.50 on a single record( which isn't very cheap lets be honest) to find its fucked and have to buy another one if I wanna play it.

I'm sorry but hard luck just doesn't do it for me on this occasion.

Most Discogs sellers give better customer service.

I had a jungle infiltrator lost from Germany, (£80 record) geezer gave me full refund and apologised

I didn't even get an apology.

I had a problem with an order from Idle Hands before, I cant really remember what happened, dunno if they sent it and it didnt turn up, or they didnt actually send it when they said they did or whatever, but they gave me a free copy of Kahn - Margeaux which I thought was really safe of them.

I used to ask the dudes at redeye to do not leave in sun on the record package and they would.

I can see your point, but I'd rather at least HEAR what happened and make my own judgment from that. He's pretty much told it how it is and compared it to his experience with other shops. :4:

that has nothing to do with customer service to make up and apologize for someone else's faults. consider yourself really lucky for getting a refund for that discogs deal. not sure wether to call that seller stupid, but i wouldn't refund you for shit that's out of my control. you know the risk of fuck ups during delivery, so when buying a record for 80 quid why not spend 2-3 extra pounds for tracking and insurance?
back to your idle hands purchase: that's clearly up to the mailman (=royal mail). you just don't leave a package on the door step (or outside in general) no matter if it's raining or the sun is shining or it's perfectly cool and dry. if it gets stolen how do you wanna prove that you never got it and that you're not making that up to get your money back and keep the record?
i had the same problem, the mailman used to squeeze the package into the mailbox with half of it not fitting in and everybody walking buy could've stolen it easily. now i've got a note attached to my mailbox, asking them to hand it over if it doesn't fit in there.

I have a plastic container that has a split lid, so you put it on its side and leave one flap open. Postman puts the mail etc in there and closes the lid. Saves him trying to ram thrings through the letter box and it keeps stuff dry
Good point about the weather though as I totally forgot about the heat warping everything, bloody glad my Gorgon sound one wasnt fucked.

I got a bit worried on sat, cos I went to the label market, and then got more stuff from Phonica and then was just chilling outside all day with a black bag full of vinyl haha, it felt baking at one point so had to keep remembering to try and put it in the shade.
