Most Discogs sellers give better customer service.

I had a jungle infiltrator lost from Germany, (£80 record) geezer gave me full refund and apologised

I didn't even get an apology.
that has nothing to do with customer service to make up and apologize for someone else's faults. consider yourself really lucky for getting a refund for that discogs deal. not sure wether to call that seller stupid, but i wouldn't refund you for shit that's out of my control. you know the risk of fuck ups during delivery, so when buying a record for 80 quid why not spend 2-3 extra pounds for tracking and insurance?
back to your idle hands purchase: that's clearly up to the mailman (=royal mail). you just don't leave a package on the door step (or outside in general) no matter if it's raining or the sun is shining or it's perfectly cool and dry. if it gets stolen how do you wanna prove that you never got it and that you're not making that up to get your money back and keep the record?
i had the same problem, the mailman used to squeeze the package into the mailbox with half of it not fitting in and everybody walking buy could've stolen it easily. now i've got a note attached to my mailbox, asking them to hand it over if it doesn't fit in there.
The record I lost was traced and tracked.. Still dont mean shit when it gets lost. The geezer refunded me then had to wait for his money back.

The guy who's sent the record is more to blame than the guy buying. Never heard the motto customer is always right.

Something just doesn't sit with me right if I buy something online and it doesn't come in good condition, why should I take the hit with it. It's more principle.

What if you made a £70 order with idle hands, they all came warped through recorded delivery. All unplayable.
And they replied with hard luck?

it's no biggie anyway.. I'll just bag repress from redeye. Just thought I'd give the guys a little heads up.
Wasn't so much a slagging them off ting, Just won't be using again as I expect more from a stupidly expensive vinyl.

Big up garethom, he seems to know where I was coming from anyway :w:

of course it does. when you can prove the package was never delivered because the delivery company lost it that's clearly their fault. every company i know includes an insurance up to a certain amount in case the package gets damaged or lost. if that insurance amount doesn't cover the value of your package you should buy an extra insurance or you have to take the risk.
Geey wrote:The guy who's sent the record is more to blame than the guy buying.
no, why would he be more to blame than the customer?! you and the seller are basically sitting in the same boat. you are both depending on the delivery company getting their job done, yet you have no control over it.
it's always disappointing when things like this happen. trust me, i made similar experiences more than once. but the point is the seller isn't in a better position than the customer.
big shops like chemical or redeye might be quick replacing records. probably because it doesn't hurt them and they'd rather work it out that way than dealing with the insurance or delivery company. but that's not the way it's supposed to be and you can't expect the same from small shops or private sellers.

And yes I know all of this? This isn't new news to anybody, your pretty much stating the obvious m8 and totally missed, my point and sidetracked majorly

Still don't change my mind that I won't be using them again? Would be absolutely stupid of me to choose them over redeye if both have the release I want.
So what are you trying to achieve with this?

lol, calm down man, you can use whoever you want, but badmouthing Idle Hands cos the postman fucked your record isn't a good look. If you are worried about your packages getting fucked then pay for insured delivery.

Once again.. You've totally missed my point.. Anyone else that wants to chip in read my original post 2 pages back.

I totally understand royal mail were probably to blame.. And I'm not bad mouthing them, merely stating I won't be using them again and stating my reasons why.

if that's how you meant it you contradicted yourself there a little.

no it's about how you're justifying your point. you basically said "The guy who's sent the record is more to blame than the guy buying." without even validating that argument. i disagreed and tried to explain why and now all of a sudden i'm stating the obvious? but you were still saying the opposite?

if you're not using a shop again for whatever reasons that's up to you, i don't really care. but complaining about that shop (in public) when it's obvious someone else is to blame is just really poor, like skimpi said above.

I've said in my original post that it was royal mails fault?

I was complaining about how I wasn't used to that kinda response when records I've paid over the odds for come unplayable.. Which is hardly my fault either??
And like I said, maybe I'm used to Tom from red eye?

But why doestom from red eye even bother sending out replacements If he can get away with not doing it?
Because he wants to keep his customers happy. As they will keep coming back.

Also back to the idle hands order.
I feel it's more his fault than mine because a simple "do not leave outside" on the hottest weekend of the year wouldn't solved the whole problem.
I know no record shops do this?? But why not?? It's common sense surely??
They must have this problem alot.. It's just unbelievable that no one would even think of this??

So for this very reason I feel the matter wasn't totally out of his hands, where as I had no control over it.

I'm sorry if it looked like I was complaining, I was purely trying to warn people that if they're used to redeye and thinking about ordering the Bandulu 003 from idle hands, be careful with this heat as they won't give a shit when it comes unplayable.

You haven't payed over the odds for the record though, it's just an expensive record.
