Demo'd it for a month, used it for maybe a few days... I thought it was an impressive synth, but everything I made was sounding similar. It's definitely got a big learning curve. Not worth it for the money for my uses.

QUESTION:

Anyone know how to create a noise gate in Reason 6 so I can gate a kick to sub bass? I wanna see how it sounds instead of using side-chain compression to get the sub/kick to sit well together.

Thanks :4:

invert the CV out of a kick and send that the the CV in on the sub track

So I can hear an effect of the gate on the sub, but I want to clarify... I take the CV gate out from KONG, invert it, then put it into the CV input on MALSTROM located under the SEQ CONTROL section?

After inverting, I put the CV cable into the merger section so that I had an extra CV pot to control the amount of the effect.

mid/side mastering in Reason. FRIGGIN' B-E-A-UTIFUL. Reason always surprises me. Using Thor for phase inversion? Just... dang.

incorporated this into my usual master bus combi. basically i took out the compression that isnt being used really and putting in a scream 4 on tape.

i use the M/S compression more than the equalizers, for some reason having the sides and mids seperately compressed sounds amazing :3

why is it that when i put scream tape distortion as send effect on drums, as i turn the red knob to add the effect, the original sound of my drums fade out and then the tape effect come in as i turn the knob? i can't have the original and "taped" signal at the same time. so what is happening that drums get cancelled out by the scream ffect?

It does it with any DAW as far as I know. What I would do, is make a 6:2 mixer in your combi, route your drums to a merger/splitter, and just route two of the outputs of the splitter into the 6:2, route the Scream 4 as an aux to the mixer, and just crank up the aux knob how ever much you think is needed, and lastly, mess with the volume of the dry drums and the saturated drums till they sound good. Just simple parallel distortion/saturation. ;-)

thanks for replyin but i was not asking aboout the How but about the Why. The thing was, asi wrote 1 post before, that while i was increasing the send effect volume/amount, via red knob on the mixer, at about 50, the dry drums would fade out and then the saturated tape drum would take place. Not not parralel but much as a crossfader on a dj mixer: dry drums or tape drums. but not together.
BUT i think is something about the phase... phase cancellation or something. someone with knowledge could explain the effect.
But the penny dropped... What i've done 5 mins ago to have dry and wet taped drums at the same time was to add a Thor after the scream and then into the mixer aux. Thor seetings: audio in1 to audio out 2 and audio in 2 to audio out 1 and both to -100 amount. this way seems to work well and i can boost the shit out of my lo-end kicks. muhahahahaha

whats happening is some of the signal is being fed into to the send, so naturally you are gonna hear less of the original as you turn it up, if you want both, copy the channel and channel settings, then add the disto

A send shouldn't effect the actual gain on the original signal though.

no its but its affecting how much gets fed into it, and the output of the disto may be higher
