Indeed, I know it sounds stupid what ive said but ive seen it happen to a lot of people over time - even myself! It won't happen instantly but if your laptops constantly sitting on magnets theres a good chance it will whipe.NilsFG wrote:Yeah, do explain.mistayif wrote:really? please do explainlegend4ry wrote:yeah, laptop DJs/producers watch out haha the magnets in those big speakers (even your little monitors at home) will fuck up your Hard drive.
The magnetic field needed to whipe out a modern hard drive needs to be pretty big, most speakers / monitors don't have such a big magnetic field out of their cases (shielding etc)

Yeah, as convenient as it looks, your desk monitors are not a laptop stand, no matter how well positioned behind the mixer they are.Project_B wrote:legend4ry wrote:Indeed, I know it sounds stupid what ive said but ive seen it happen to a lot of people over time - even myself! Yeh, most studio monitors are sold as being "magnetically sheilded" but i still wouldn't take any risks. Its just really not worth the hassle all because you couldnt find somewhere tidy to stick your external hard drive or whatever...
