Dark Water - Hideo Nakata's finest, I reckon. One of the scariest movies I've ever seen. I watch a lot of horror movies and for the first time in around 10 years, I was freaked out in the flat all alone (ok, so I might have been a little stoned)

Audition - Korean widower is on the lookout for a new partner, so he sits in on a friend's auditions for a movie role that may or may not exist. Girl takes issue with his tactic and turns the tables... good, but not as good as I thought it'd be. GREAT sample material though.... ;) Not as good as...

Hard Candy - Ellen Page (now of Juno rubbish fame) as a 14 year old girl who turns the tables on a guy trying to groom her over the internet. Seriously fucked up... no major gore, but pretty nerve-wracking as a bloke. Interesting to watch with girls around to compare the reactions...
 I've sampled the bejeezus out of audition.... Deeper, deeper, Painful? Sick film, but Visitor Q is where its at for Miike, Sukiyaki Western django is pretty cool too.
Also Seul Contre Tous "I Stand Alone" by Gaspar Noe (the french bad boy who made Irreversible) is pretty hair raising.

I liked elephant, not enough to buy it or anything. but I thought it was pretty good...

but yesterday I re-watched (for my 100th damn time) Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. :D

hard candy is pretty sick, is that the one where she fakes the snip on him, plays him a pre-recorded tape of it

Finally saw Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance!

BAM BAM BAM!

Absolutely loved it, completely gripping, as good as Old Boy I'd say.

Recommended.

Err, she shows him a live feed of it being done, doesn't she? I don't think there's any suggestion of it being pre-recorded....

I watched half an hour of Saw IV and gave up as it was utter shite.

Eastern Promises was a good film though, I much preferred it to A History of Violence.

Cronenberg is like a fine wine... he just keeps getting better with age.

Just watched this. Very real. Very tense. Very bleak. Took a while to get going, and early on i felt like it was gonna be a bit cliched but it'll definitely stay with me and I highly recommend it. Word of warning, this is not a feel good film.
