Escape from LA, Big Trouble in Little China, and I'll mention Stargate too. I was never much into the TV series, it was okay but the original film was great imo. Mention for his cameo in Forrest Gump too.

I thought the new Total Recall was crap, I tried to view with an open mind but... meh. Expecting the exact same from the new Judge Dredd. Not that the first movie was anything good anyway, but the real Total Recall is an absolute classic I think, never mind what they changed from the original short story.

I think you need to forget the original movie, its like watching a completely different, unrelated film, its its own movie, I think it would have been shit if they had just remade exactly the Arnie version. I think theres room for both movies, like Batman, different versions, all valid imo.

I have hope for the new Dredd, the slow-motion shots & use of 3D might make something quite artistic, also Mega City 1 might look how it should. But theres a small part of me that is Dredd-ing it... :6:

sorry, had to.

But it is basically a remake of the Arnie version but a bit on its own. I mean there was no one actually even named Quaid in the story, but it was weird since there's no Mars. Seemed like a Hollywood action vehicle with little substance and bad casting IMO. I won't be watching again, whereas I've seen the 90s film probably dozens of times by now.

Btw speaking of Chasing Shadows in Total Recall 2012, Skream's La Roux remix is featured in the new Judge Dredd spots, dunno about the soundtrack though.

Think of it as a separate film, thats the key to enjoying it I think. Quaid gets a mention in the movie a couple times. The Mars thing I can see the film studio seeing as unesscessary, I think the broader audience (sadly) find concepts like this bemusing, (ah-hem) Alienating, & ultimately uninteresting because of it. So I think they perhaps did leave out the "unesscessary" sci-fi parts for this reason.

Personally I liked the mutants, mars, but most of all Quato, this guy is awesome & was disapointed he wasnt in it. Ive seen the old version many times, its a classic. But the new is enjoyable in its own way...It reminded me of the atmosphere of Blade Runner, with a hint of the Matrix, and a bit of Tron Legacy in there if only for the neon lights now and then.

Ah yes, Skream & LaRoux in the trailer, hope it makes it into the film. Its good having some dubstep in movies, the CS tune did fit very well with the scene, maybe this alone made me like it a bit more.

The cinematography was impressive but the film bored the absolute shit out of me. Maybe i was just in the wrong mood. I love Winding Refn's other work but this i didn't connect with.

2hr chase sequence w/ fighting bits. Nothing too serious, entertaining, and open ended enough for the inevitable sequel.

Yeah, was all a bit TO BE CONTINUED... at the end

Would be easy to manufacture those brown pills they make three of them take by getting rat poison and a pill making kit.

Scarface (1932 Original) - I've had the bluray of the classic 1983 Scarface sitting here for a while now, but decided to do this one first and the see where the inspiration came from for the remake. Although this film is quite short, they manage to get a lot in. Great story and impressive acting, has the 'gangster film' feel all the way through, as it should; being one the first gangster films to be made. Good bullet/explosion effects too (wouldn't really call them 'special effects') considering it was made in 1932.

Really enjoyed this film. You have to bare with it, but all of a sudden the pieces fit together, leaving you a bit taken back!
Beautiful cinematography as well, would definitely recommend for a low budget film.

Alpha Dog

Could've been awesome, but it says a lot about a film when Justin Timberlake is the best thing in it
