the thing i liked most about reason was the modular design, the sounds i could easil squeeze out of it, the sequencer, and how automation was as easy as right clicking on any parameter.

this actually was one small downsize i noticed when working with logic. i was thinking "damn i never realized how pretty reasons ssl mixer was until now"

Just made my switch to Ableton yesterday. It's going alright so far...Drums sounding good/better than when I had it in FL Studio for some reason.

What I'm going to try to learn tomorrow is resampling in Ableton and parallel compression. Then off to follow these videos of these reese basses that replicate skrillex/kill the noise :]

The thing I hate about Ableton so far is that everything I do is taking forever....like idea-wise for a song...whereas on Fruity Loops I get shit going hella fast....of course it's because I'm not used to it yet but it's a pain and I know it'll be worth it.

Also feels like it's forcing me to change my style on how I make music/what I make.....The drum loop I made with random bleeps and junk remind me of Eptic/Habstrakt style shit....Let's see where this first song takes me!

P.S anyone know of any VSTs that is like Grossbeat in Fl studio? I have dBlueGlitch so not that.

I love how you can freeze tracks/ built-in plugins such as EQ-8/ Operator(I use Massive & FM8 though). The functions for all the plugins are more flexible/ I like the layout/ I love how the plugins show on the bottom while working on whatever. I know when I do get everything down + hotkeys that it'll be such a faster for me.

Main reason are for the kill the noise/skrillex type basses(reese bass)/ resampling. I'm trying to learn those and it seems much easier but more advanced/better sounding in ableton with the techniques using the built-in plugins.

I'm still gonna use FL Studio but I think for me personally I need to learn more things with production etc. so I'm forcing myself to learn Ableton to further expand my knowledge with techniques/ DAWs.

So Ultimately I won't figure out which one I like more until the long-run.

Have been trying Ableton for the past week or so, really giving it a good go and trying out all the features.

It seems WAY more flexible than FL (warping and such is so cool) but it takes me so much longer just to get a drum pattern going. Within 30 mins on FL I've already got a beat, 2 synths, a nice chopped up acappella and it's all coming together nicely, but with Ableton........

I'm gonna stick with FL for now I think, though I do like the look of Reason I have to say. If Mosca uses it then it can't be all bad

You do realize that loads of those notched Reese/Neurofunk style basslines were made with Thor and Combinators?
Not saying it`s the only way but if you`re moving to another program because you think it`ll be easier or better for producing those style basslines, you`re quite wrong.
You seem to be following a trend rather than understanding the fundamental concepts involved.
And further expanding your DAW knowledge is only going to confuse you more at this point.
FL would have been fine.
As would Reason.

Don`t change because of an artist preference.
Stick with what works for you.
So many good artists use FL.
Try not to be so DAW focused.
Make tunes.

I'll look into Thor & Combinators. I use FM8 & Massive and I found a recent tut that duplicates the kill the noise 100% that uses FM8 & EQ8 in Ableton. I'll try to learn other ways to make a reese/neurofunk bass though. Haven't made one yet.
