I'm also gonna hit this free party up this year. I saw Mark N, Gancher & Ruin, Parasite and others there too last year. I'm especially excited about Paul Blackout, Simon Underground and Ruffneck.

How does one get a line-up with 'Mark N, Gancher & Ruin, Parasite and others' and then not charge any fee? weird
Line-up doesn't look like it's on the same scale this year, though Simon U and Ben 9mm would be go-ers.

It's on a national holiday and publicly funded. Agreed about this year's line-up, but Paul Blackout is worth going for given how infrequently he performs overseas.
Though from the description I think it's another castrated melodic IDMcore release rather than the tyranny of his earlier stuff.
I was right. At least the fat chinstrokers at WATMM will enjoy this.

Pretty sure it's my most namechecked release. Also my favorite hardcore 12".

Haha, it's finally grown on you? I always figured you'd end up liking it. It's pure hardcore, but I can see it appealing to someone coming from drum & bass.

The new Detest release is out on PRSPCT. The A-side, 'Witch Hunt' is huge. Great mixdown/production. I think hardcore is slowly becoming more well produced than drum & bass. I think I'll cop it soon.

Haha, it's in a good place right now.

I think DJ Producer is killin' it.
Deathmachine too (though I think this one's 3 years old now?)
It's all about kicks atm tbh.
Breakcore has mostly become pretty soft.

Yeah, Ruby My Dear is making the only interesting breakcore i've heard in a long time. Much more melodic/listenable/'soft' than most though.

switch technique and mikromachine albums from last year on union (sick label tbh) are pretty good too imo. nothing new or mindblowing, but good

is that new producer stuff and isn't that a photek album title aswell?
30 seconds of me ripping off Abelcain one afternoon last month that I never finished. Meh.

toilet wars is a gem
oh and cheers
Yeah, it's from last year's EP on the Third Movement called 'Journeys Never End', which also has a modern remix of 'A Journey Of Force' that is pretty big. He also had a dope release little later on PRSPCT too.

Agreed.

I can't believe how we're managing to keep this thread going with so few users being interested in hardcore and the like. Impressive.
Haha, it's all good. I'm not nearly as militant about my preferences as I seem. To each their own. It's more of a vehicle to me to have some fun with (I just liked the idea of saying 'fat chinstrokers from WATMM), than something I feel strongly about. I really hate people who are genuinely militant about their opinion and have to let it be known exactly how they feel about art. I see the appeal in recent VSnares, but I'm way more into Doll Doll Doll/Shitfuckers/Songs About my Cats/Greg Hates Car Culture/etc.
Besides, I like SOME melodic breakcore. The Flashbulb is amazing.

yeah i assumed you were more into this side of his production, no offence taken, i got into VS listening to rossz silllaq something something (however its spelled) at home, literally chinstroking
