The "hi-hat-ish" sound going at 1/16th notes.

Is this some type of instrument? Synthesized?

Edit: Starts at 0:12

You know, seeing as this is Ratatat, I wouldn't be surprised if those were guitars.

Palm muted, non-distorted electric guitars?

that one sound at around 1:04 to 1:15
sounds like a synth with an lfo on 1/16 that's in reverse but i still dont get it

always makes me think of a like a bird flapping its wings
tried recreating it just to see if it's possible but cant get it

Soundcloud

or i was also thinking that synth is side chained into something and compressed whenever it hits those 16th notes

How do you go about making the type of high pitched bass sound that i'm hearing at 1:00? I hear this type of bass line in Doctor P songs as well.

sounds like two detuned square/saw waves ran through a formant filter.

so in massive I would have to make detuned saw/square waves on the formant setting and run it through the filters? because the filters themselves don't have a formant setting only scream, low pass, high pass, etc...thanks btw

Hello all, I've just bought Trolley Snatchers 'The Future' (one of my favorite tunes) on vinyl, but that main sound, is a sound that has been buggin me for ages. How one earth is it made? Anyone got any ideas?

For want of a better way to describe it, the song goes: "Bluh! Bluh! du-de-du-de-du-duh-duh, Bluh! Bluh!"

I want to know how to make the "Bluh!" :)

I use reason, so that would help if you can talk to me in reason language.

Thanks,

~Orinoco.

yep, but what synth you use does not matter whatsoever so long as it has at least one osc (all duh)
the key is the way it's programmed, play around with different grids (1/16, 1/32, etc etc) program notes in and also some reverb and delay
square waves done this way = instant nintendo sounds

yeah... and have the 3rd oscillator 2 octaves lower. if you listen to big boss, it has a sub bass to it as well.
