Watching how everybody is going crazy over James Blake lately makes my feel like people are invading a secret little magic garden only I knew about. I've known his music for more than a year, the music really means something special to me and now suddenly everyone and their mother are talking about it...

Then today it hit me hard that I have no fucking right to feel that way, cause A: I wasn't the first at all to "discover" Blake and B: More people liking his music doesn't change the music in any way.
So I've been quite the arrogant "I knew them before it was cool"-hipster in my mind...and that pisses me of. (So does my boss but that's a totally different story.)

i kinda feel the same but know that the critics will love his new album but the public/pop music people won't and so he'll fall out of the popular eye soon after he's done an awesome live tour and maybe some tv stuff and go back to being our secret little magic garden.

Maybe your right, but tunes like "Limit to your love", "The Wilhelm Scream" and "I never learned to share" are quite accessible and "catchy" (in lack of a better word) so I'm sure that a lot of people will like the "James Blake" album. At least people with an interest in indie/electronic/alternative music.
But then again, it's hard to say in which direction Blake will move after this album. Maybe he'll put out something more glitchy and instrumental again (like "Buzzard and kestrel"), losing the larger audience in the process. Time will show. For now, we'll have to deal with his rising popularity.

I think I heard "Air and the lack thereof" sometime in late 2009. It was being played on a radio programme that introduced new electronic music, but I don't live in the UK so it probably wasn't all that new at the time. Still, you know, my cool-kid-ego likes to believe so:P

I hate when my boss calls right at 9:30 to make sure I've arrived. But she disguises the fact by talking absolute nonsense for 15 minutes. Fucking hell, give me some time to wind down and get in it bitch, last thing I want to hear is your incessant rambling about shit that you've written in the log, that we've already discussed!!
