Well I was following the first hour ok barring the rabbits. The next two hours...not so much. This is such a complicated film that it's hard to work out whether it is a masterpiece or just pure self indulgence from Lynch. And at three hours I reckon it'll be some time before I bother to give this another viewing to find out. Well acted from Dern either way and it looks pretty and stuff. Blue Velvet and Mulholland Dr. especially were superior in my book though.
Just as long as Inland Empire but this time I wasn't checking my watch every half an hour. Gripping tale of a women seeking refuge from gangsters in a small town and the developments that follow on from this. The minimal staging while initially seeming like a novelty acts to focus your attention on the characters themselves and was a brilliant choice. Finale was shocking but unsurprising really.
Hadn't seen this for ages so was fun hearing all the stuff that had been sampled from this. Don't really need to say much...it's Blade Runner. Anyone who hasn't seen this who likes dystopian sci-fi films, watch this immediately.

I think it's partly down to the press it got in the 70s. there's a quote from a critic at the time of release describing it as being "as gory as a clockwork orange" or something along those lines. it's either tongue in cheek (neither film is particularly gory) or it's just piggybacking off the controversy surrounding the film. presumably the latter.
all that aside, it's an incredible film. probably my favourite scorsese.

A fascinating look into loneliness/mental instability/urban solitude
Im a bit annoyed that it took so long for me to see it.

Chopper. It's been a while but that stabbing near the beginning was quite a bit nastier than I remember.

The Adjustment Bureau. Always good for a laugh, less serious interpretation of a PKD story there is.

GF hadn't seen it before, had been a while since I'd watched it, still cracks me up.
