do dnb heads still shit on skullstep/crossbreed? found it weird that neuro is ok but this isn't; both logical conclusions of techstep - which already strayed a lot from what dnb was imo

yes but that one makes sence i think
i dont think stuff below 170 should have individual genre names tho

It's funny because neurofunk was just the track watermelon originally but because it had swing it couldn't be called techstep by the purists. But then all the noisia, spor, etc stuff with complicated frequency split basses that came way later became 'neuro' (literally without the funk) and it kind of makes sence to distinguish between let's say that and bad company, dbridge etc that still had mostly jungle sub sounds for bass.

SC, really? But yeah thanks man. It actually sounds a lot better, and the break is a lot clearer, in my Renoise file. Soundcloud kinda messed it up, it's harsh so it doesn't translate well to lower bitrate. Though I don't wanna put too much focus on the break on this tune tbh.

Sounds good tho and I like the edits for what it's worth.

I find a lot of skullstep was actually much closer to jungle than most dnb in this century. Chest rattling bass and syncopated and intricately chopped breaks? Sounds like jungle to me. Much more than the the one-shot heavy, melodic, steppers people jizz all over. It obviously sounds different, but many of the fundamentals are the same.

Depends on the tunes I think. Say, Gancher & Ruin is hardcore to me, whereas Switch Technique is drum & bass, though both obviously crossbreed.

Definitely agree about the break work being left behind in dnb and instead it kind of took a bro turn.

Oh wait, Tugie's release is out. Looks like I'ma cop it. And I just bagged myself 'Remember Your Rootz' by Dom & Roland and 'Witch Hunt / Fuck That' by Detest.
