No Country for Old Men was brilliant. Loved how much it toyed with your expectations. Nothing quite panned out how you thought or expected it would. The ending was superb. A lot of people seemed to dislike it though.
I watched
The Elephant Man last night. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Lynch consistently impresses me. Incredible body of work to his name. Interesting that it was Mel Brooks who got him on board. Never saw Brooks as a 'serious' film maker.
I am not an elephant! I am not an animal! I am a human being! I ... am ... a ... man!

Prometheus - pretty good
Kick ass - kick ass
Eastern Promises - pretty good, but fellow german Armin Müller-Stahl didnt get his russian accent right IMHO. Viggo Mortensen was brilliant as usual.
Jonas - great documentary / film about school with one of my favorite german actors / humans : Christian Ulmen
Up in the air - not sure about this one
making ofs (all very good):
star wars
a clockwork orange
2001
from dusk till dawn
the hobbit

Leon (Directors Cut)
The extra scenes completely ruin the dynamic and undermine the previously strong aspects of the film.
The original cinema release is a classic, imo. Avoid this version at all costs.

Just saw this too, really enjoyed it, though the ending was a bit fuzzy. Excellent nonetheless. I love the lack of music.

I'm not really into horror but i'd say so, yeah (if you can see it for free, that is). Reckon it's pretty atmospheric but I seem to remember a few people on here disagreeing.... that may have been in regard to the US remake though.

Quarantine, yeah that was awful. The sequel (yes, they made one) is even worse.
First REC is pretty good, kinda lost it's impact with a home viewing but on the big screen it was great.

that someone would be me. Recently got the DVD after this after a truly gruesome cinema experience which I've elaborated on plenty in the past. I got the DVD because I figured there would be interesting extras on it that might make the movie more bearable.
There weren't.
But, I have to say I didn't hate it as much as in the cinema (of course I was prepared for the ridiculously weak script and bad acting this time around).
The Star-Trek inspired OST didn't bother me that much this time, in fact I found it quite cool. The broader concepts of the movie sat a little bit better with me. I'm still baffled by the fact that people think I hated this movie because a) it didn't answer all the questions or b) it wasn't an Alien prequel, or a space horror flick.
If anything, the movie provides way too many (though loosely structured) answers and it still IS an alien prequel, a bad one at that. But as a sci-fi action flick with some groundbreaking visuals, a stunningly beautiful Noomy Rapace (not her best performance though), an on que fassbender and some 'interesting' ideas, it was indeed not as bad as I made it out to be.
It still proves that a) the writer from lost sucks. B) Scott is slowly going demented C) it's still an overrated piece of cinema that in the broad scale of sci-fi, sinks into mediocrity.
3/10
