This exactly. And I like how they called Obamacare "socialist" despite the fact it in no way socializes medicine and is in fact a historically right-wing policy.Phigure wrote:Definitely. Worst part is, whenever someone tries to fix the problem, you've got the right throwing their hands in the hair screaming "NO, SOCIALISM! SAINT REAGAN WARNED US ABOUT THIS!!!"

Sort of yes, actually. Here, the police and fire departments are being severly cut. Parents house was burglerized twice recently. Second time, police wouldn't even come out. They don't have enough people to respond to burglaries._v_ wrote:wait, You have to pay for ambulance service?

Warren Harding. Just sayin'.SCope13 wrote:Fucking Reagan, man. Seriously the worst president of the 20th century.
Which is why most of them are privatized and the war on drugs boat is never rocked by either of the major parties._v_ wrote:ehbrums1 wrote:Don't forget drug companiesPhigure wrote:no. americans think socialism is evil when you do it with healthcare, but its fine when you have socialized police and fire dept._v_ wrote:wait, You have to pay for ambulance service?

Funny that its the healthcare/medicine service that is the one that can make huge profits.
Where as the fire & police service just wouldnt, even if you could charge for it.
Though the prison system is another thing, money to be made there also.

Guy Who F*cked Up Katrina Response Says Obama Is Too "Quick" With Sandy
Remember him?
President Obama's response to Hurricane Sandy was praised by one of his harshest critics as being "wonderful," but hey, what does the guy a Congressional panel of his fellow Republicans called "clueless" for his response to Katrina think? "Why did he jump on [the hurricane] so quickly and go back to D.C. so quickly when in…Benghazi, he went to Las Vegas?" Michael "Heckuva Job" Brown* told the Denver Westword."Why was this so quick?…This is like the inverse of Benghazi." Maybe because the president was trying to avoid "a national failure, an abdication of the most solemn obligation to provide for the common welfare."
Brown is so good at this disaster mitigation stuff, his critique of the president's response came yesterday afternoon, before the storm even hit. You know, the storm, that giant FrankenBunyon "Shitcloud" that meteorologists couldn't stop crapping their pants over for days beforehand? It's sort of like a terrorist attack on an American embassy in Libya, if you squint really hard. (Also, if you squint really hard, Hurricane Frances did $31 million worth of damage to Miami-Dade County, and Michael Brown is a competent resource to pull quotes from on emergency preparedness.)
But even Brown isn't sharp enough to catch what's really happening here. No, that distinction goes to Rush Limbaugh, (https:/twitter.com/TeaPartyCat/status/263315878874083328) who said today, "Obama is taking his time turning the power back on after Hurricane Sandy in order to keep Romney's ads off the air." Just look no further than downtown Manhattan, where there are presumably three or four undecided voters without power who will slip through Romney's fingers, costing him a decisive win in New York State. Hey Darrell Issa: can you find out who deleted the photo of Obama manically laughing as his finger teases a "NEW YORK ELECTRICAL POWER SWITCH" from Pete Souza's Flickr feed?

Romney Refuses To Comment On Plans To Eliminate FEMA, 14 Times
Hurricane Sandy is not turning into a political windfall for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Not only did Romney's buddy New Jersey Governor Chris Christie go and call President Obama a "great leader" for his storm response but now some of the former Massachusetts governor's previous statements about disaster relief are coming back to bite him. Not that he wants to talk about that when there is politicking to do.
As the Times eloquently points out today, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has been pretty important to our response to Hurricane Sandy. And what do you know, last year Romney made it very clear he didn't think FEMA needed to exist. Would he get rid of it?"Absolutely. Every time you have an occasion to take something from the federal government and send it back to the states, that’s the right direction. And if you can go even further and send it back to the private sector, that’s even better."
Here's the video if you prefer:
So does Romney still feel that way? Who knows! He certainly wasn't willing to talk about it today at a press briefing:“Governor, are you going to see some storm damage?” one reporter asked.
Several others again asked Romney whether he would eliminate FEMA.
“Governor, you’ve been asked 14 times. Why are you refusing to answer the question?” one asked.
Romney ignored the reporters’ queries and continued loading up the truck. Earlier, during the event, he ignored similar queries.
Still, campaign officials insist he would not abolish FEMA if he became president.
No wonder when Chris Christie was asked about the chances for the election next week all he had to say on the topic was, "I don't give a damn about Election Day. It doesn't matter a lick to me at the moment. I've got bigger fish to fry and so do the people of New Jersey."
Anyway, FEMA isn't even the only thing the Romney campaign is under fire for today. Some are angrily questioning his team's choice to screen campaign advertisements to attendees of a "storm relief event." Even his team isn't really helping:
Romney aide Stuart Stevens says "I agree" that Romney bio video blurs line b/t storm relief & politicking. "I don't know how it happened"— Ari Shapiro (@Ari_Shapiro https:/twitter.com/Ari_Shapiro/status/263333307318673409 )
