well i think a lot of earlier dnb is a bit slower because hardcore stuff was around that tempo too

^that makes sense, i could never get into actual drum n bass but i really like hardcore and quite like early jungle so the tempo mite have sumthin to do with it. not the only reason though

yeah, not that i dont like drum and bass, but i've always preferred jungle and hardcore over it as well. for me its just that rawness. same reason id take most dubstep tracks from 03-07 over the ones being written nowadays.

^agreed, thats def a massive factor as well - also find the rhythms a lot more interesting too cause of all the breaks used instead of that generic 2 step dnb beat you hear in most dnb. of course theres exceptions like photek and the autonomic stuff imo

techstep was the beginning of the end. still some good d&b here and there though.

tbh i think it was that Alex Reece tune pulp fiction that sent a lot of dnb producers down that road and made that sound popular.. and made it more commercially viable.

I think that was the first dnb tune i heard being played in shops and on car adverts and shit like that.. I think the average person can relate to those dumbed down simplistic rhtyhms a lot more. Lame.

It's just labels like Hospital and Audioporn that give dnb a silly name, I reckon there's loads of good dnb coming out all the time, but the older stuff is way before my time so can't really compare.

well it's one thing if it's your culture etc.. But the vast majority of ppl who have those are of european descent and are just doing it for fashion.

I'm not sure that is cultural, I agree with you, its pretty weird.

theres a guy who works at the wendys here, and hes got those ear stretcher things, but he takes em out for work. so hes jus got loose ear flaps flopping around
