when did it shut down?????
Only live down the road, was heading to big apple to buy some dubstep for the first time and when i got there, i realised that it had gone. Now its mixing.
Such a difference now. Remember walking through the market with my grandad when i was 10, just walking past not knowning what the hell that place was.
Big apple should do something with mixing, in regards to a tribute thing. Something that remember the past!

I remember them thursdays meeting up there to go fwd...in the limos. Some proper laughs in them. Hatch was like a pimp reaching fwd back then lol.
Big apple cant be replaced.
I've never been into mixing records as i heard they refused to stock dubstep..i've heard this is starting to change now?

I'm working on it.
I find it a bit gutting that something like that never happened near my door, I would love to have memories like you guys have!
The beginning of the dubstep scene in Belgium was very exciting

(and it still is)
5 years ago Dice did the first dubstep happenings in Antwerp but at best 10 people showed up

+ we had a monthly residency in bar SOS (rip). And at the same time BunZero & Grimelock were pushing things in Brussels.
And in the beginning of 2000 there was a small UKGarage/breakbeat scene in Brussels which was heavy!

I met a lot of people for the first time travelling up in their limo. I didn't know anyone in the limo I was in, but by the time we had reached plastic people I'd made friends with all of em.
Hatcha played Hard Graft that night and it got wheeled up and Walsh gave me a pat on the back in congratulations.
I remember being in a slight state of shock at the reaction it got, I'd never seen any of my tunes get dropped in a club before, not least on a system like that!!

I remember that too.
In 2004, Myself and Virus Syndicate played at a huge train station in Brussels.... shortly after in August 2005, the same crew got in touch to put together an entire grime / dubstep line up for a night at Le Gazon and had me put the artists together with a small budget.
We had 4 hours to fill and they definitely wanted me to play, and Mark One with Virus Syndicate - I decided to get the best grime representative for one of the other hours, and the best dubstep representative for the other hour so that we had a broad spectrum on the night!!
In the end we managed to get Plasticman, Mark One, Logan Sama, Mala, Coki, Jammer, Skepta and JSD together to play the event out to about 1500 people in a park at night!!
It was Logan's first gig abroad and I think it was Digital Mystikz first gig abroad as well.
We had a lot of fun - the pictures can still be viewed online here:

OK this is older than old school, possibly THE earliest roots of dubstep: was anyone at the Big Apple Christmas party when Ghost (El-B and Roxy) played live, possibly Christmas 2000?
I'd love to know what that was like and if there were any photos or recordings...
