I'd usually choose a sample of say a recording in a train station or a beach and stretch the hell out of it so it sounds totally different and really slow ( say to 32 bars for example). I'd add some rvb and delay so fits together and the have it really quite in the background. I'd then just layer other sounds over the top panned slightly. Its all about having in the back of a track so u dont notice it unless your listening for it.planetshift wrote:What are some tips for creating that full, atmospheric sound in a track? So that it's subtly "busy", but doesn't sound busy, more like, just spacious with a lot happening "in the air".

If you think your sound suites a certain label then just send them an mp3. You can probably find contact info for every label in this scene through the forum. Put a folder together with no more then 4 tracks with a little bit of info about yourself and send away. Theres a post a page or 2 back about this also with a bit more info,100man wrote:yo, any tips on good places to send demos? like send them in the post somewhere or like, use drop boxes? cos i thought maybe it'd be good to like send them to labels that sound like the stuff i make, but then i make some varied stuff, so you know. plus so many drop boxes seem to be fuckin broken man haha it's dead annoyin.
pm'dlegend4ry wrote:Any advice on some labels putting out deeper, darker stuff so some of us producers doing that tip could get in contact with? I can't seem to find ANY. Feel free to PM if you don't wanna publically state
Do you not recommend sending soundcloud links then?random trio wrote:If you think your sound suites a certain label then just send them an mp3. This!solo strike wrote:Yo! I love hearing anecdote stuff about gigs.... any stories to share, like the best/worst/most memorable gig you've ever had?
one that springs to mind was the 1st time i played at exodus/subdub in leeds. It was also the 1st and only time i tried to use serato in a club (besides 1 tour in the states). Anyway..solo strike wrote:Yo! I love hearing anecdote stuff about gigs.... any stories to share, like the best/worst/most memorable gig you've ever had?
Also what was the first dub you ever cut, and how would you say your DJing/approach to tunewriting has changed over the years?
