If music is to reach a high audience, it should be properly produced. This is a fault of the music industry as a whole, not Mt Eden.

Just to add my two pence to the peace talk, neither am I trying to hate on Mt Eden or his fans. The points I was specifically trying to make were that the music industry must be in quite a poor state to allow something as poorly mixed as Mt Eden into the mainstream. Back in the day a good musician would go to a good studio engineer to make a good record, the point I failed to make was that technology has come such a long way and adding a bit of wobble over a sample is nothing to wow over, although I accept that people do and if they're uneducated I can sort of understand why.
But I like to believe even if I wasn't a music producer, that I would still be able to notice if a track had been badly put together.

As for 'music that sells = good music', this all depends on what you class as good... If it sells then people must think it's good, therefor it must have something good about it, in Mt Eden's case probably just a hype factor IMO, but I do agree, it takes a lot more than hype to make a piece of music itself 'good', literally.

this is what I was talking about, music that becomes really popular usually isn't popular because of the music, a lot of it is marketing the hype and when the hype dies down so does the appeal. just look at the X factor; people on that are always worming their way into the charts simply because the audience is huge and their music then becomes an extension of the show and feeds off of the succes of that. There are some occasions where music becomes ridiculously popular simply because the music is so catchy and likeable but that's a rare occurence these days

I do like the purple sound and joker.
