Yeah one of my mates had it but didn't tell anyone for long, then I randomly told him I get it and he was well relieved. Thought something was medically wrong with him lol.

Are your mates sensible/non drug takers?

Me and some of my friends have experienced it a lot cos we occaisionally have weekends with very little sleep, and it then tends to happen over the following few nights when trying to get back to normality.

Used to be worried that it was drug related and the brain was slowly but surely malfunctioning, but I now believe its just down to an irregular sleeping pattern

I used to get this as a kid (well, like 8-9), absolutely terrifying stuff !

The one I remember is tossing and turning then my heartrate getting faster then I couldn't move and I started to sweat and panic and couldn't move then a geeza on a horse covered in armor came running in from the with a lance and stopped and looked at me then ran off out the other wall... Couldn't sleep properly for years after that! Even swapped rooms with my mum cause I was afraid to sleep in there haha!!

I get this occasionally these days, its usually just the paralysing thing though, nothing to intense!

The one that gets it isn't into drugs nah, but very off sleeping pattern (e.g. going to bed 4-7am, getting up late etc). I first started getting it when I was getting stressed about some freelance project I had to finish a few years ago, and was basically going to bed at 4-5am and getting up 10-11am every day for a while.

I've only ever had it once. I had something similar another time but I dunno if it was sleep paralysis. I spoke about it another thread.
Motorway to Roswell wrote:I was once lying in bed in the morning after doing a gram or so of mdma the night before and everytime I closed my eyes I was stood on the other side of the room facing the wall but at the same time was still in bed looking at myself stood staring at the wall. When I opened my eyes I was just lying in bed. Every time I closed them the same thing happened for about 40 minutes.
Was very strange being in two places at once and being able to see myself in both places at the same time. I could see the wall I was facing and I could see myself facing the wall from the other side of the room.

With me reading more and more of your experiences half of me wishes I could also experience sleep paralysis however the other half of me thinks id be scared shitless. Is there anyway I can consciously induce such a thing?

Someone posted a video on this thread which I used to great effect last night. First time I've tried to induce it. Didn't fully fall asleep but it was quite mad. Limbs were all in paralysis, had the heavy buzzing noise etc, my heart started pounding like mad out of anxiety but was quite easy to control. Think the only thing that kept me from slipping into a lucid dream was the fact I had earphones in (but they definitely helped in keeping my mind awake whilst my body went under).

Thanks, Im gonna look into this j-one. WHile im not easily scared I must admit the thought of this makes me slightly nervous.

Ive know a few people to die in their sleep. If you have a weak heart or breathing difficulties do you think this could be a cuase of sleep deaths?

Yeah that will be the cause. I work shifts and when I start late and decide to have a long lie in, I can get some mad lucid dreams as my alarm goes off and I constantly snooze it for an hour or two.

Dreamt I got posessed this morning, could really feel the spirit entering me through the head (not in a sexual way). Strange cos I didn't feel scared, was actually quite up for it!

Gonna try that video out tonight actually, i'm intrigued.

Everything I've read has said there's no danger from it at all... but then I guess weak heart plus mad anxiety is never a good combo.

It really can be terrifying... many times haven't wanted to go back to sleep afterwards cuz it'd just happen over and over, but might be a different case if you induce it yourself as you know what's coming (I got slight anxiety last night when trying to induce but managed to tame it quite easily with positive thoughts etc).

Im pretty stressed at the moment and havnt been sleeping well. I usually have bad dreams anyway but for the past week ive been having some fucked up nightmares and keep waking up around 5am only to not fall back to sleep again. Its more because im restless though rather than being scared or anything but Im wondering if this will enhance my chances of sleep paralasis or if I need to be relaxed to experience?

Sounds like the right ingredients to me really. Try following that video, seems like it's useful even just as a method of getting back to sleep.

I did some reading on this and found out sleep paralysis is very usefull and everyone has it when they sleep. It makes sure you don't
react to events that happen in your dreams.
However if you can somehow trick your own mind in assuming the body is sleeping you will phyisically experience
the paralysis. This is probably what happens to some of you accidentally.

Weird thing is: my mind sometimes 'falls asleep' and the paralysis effect doesn't get triggered so I start kicking my legs or whatever
and instantly wake up. This is the exact opposite of what many people want to achieve, which is lucid dreaming or obe's.

Very interesting stuff.

Not sure if this is the right place to post but I've had some weird stuff happen to me tonight, hence why I am up...don't really want to go back to sleep.

Firstly, I was quite paranoid when I went to sleep tonight for some unknown reason...just really on edge and felt scared to some degree, I started to fall in and out of sleep as you do and then a bump woke me up (I live on my own at the moment, in a fairly big house O.O). I just stared at the door and then suddenly, everything just started going white and I felt my head hit the pillow and I was in like a white room( think more like the scene in the Matrix where Morpheus explains the matrix to Neo). I felt awake, almost like a lucid dream like state and felt in control and then suddenly my whole body, minus my legs started vibrating very rapidly and I could feel the bed vibrating but couldn't move my arms or my upper half...this continued for like 5 minutes and needless to say I was fucking shitting it as my chest felt like it was getting tighter and I started to wonder (while I was in this state) if this is what death felt like, with the white light/room and the vibrations that like my body was transcending. Finally I came around, after I realised I could move my legs my arms slowly freed.

Needless to say I was a bit shocked but I was really tired so after a drink of water, I tried to get back to sleep. This is where I started to get extremely weird dreams, I felt like I was constantly waking up but too a different scenario but it felt so real that I was awake but now I think about, I know there was subtle differences. I just kept playing different scenarios after I woke up (always in my house, in my own bed), like one where I just beat the shit of my girlfriend, the next a nurse came round to dismantle a specialised bed (my grandad isn't well at the moment), and seeing friends etc. But to me, I felt like I was constantly reawaking when I didn't like the situations, I spent half an hour to an hour of constantly doing this and trying to properly awaken myself and it felt impossible, I felt stuck in something like a horrible groundhog day. I eventually woke up and decided I'm just going to stay up, as it was really frustrating and stressful.

Anyways, thats my night. Take what you will from it.

Sounds pretty intense and yeah, i'd say it all part of the same thing.

The fact that you felt physically restricted and the whole "feeling of doom" thing would suggest it was just a dose of sleep paralysis, albeit Matrix style.

And the dreams you said you had after it reminded me of this film :

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0243017/

Well worth checking out if you are in any way intrigued by dreams and shit

I'm having them nearly every night now for some reason. And the hallucinating ones as well. Where you snap out of it and realise you actually had your eyes open, jut with weird shit added to what was really there.

Rarely get the frozenness now, but constantly getting hallucinations, or hypnagogic imagery as its called.
Nothing to be scared of.. most of the evil 'presences' are simply entertaining themselves
but those clever bastards know how to get you shitting it
3:00-4:00 in the morning is common time.

My god.. Halloween just round the corner :D

Was listening to an interview on the subject this morning, will try and find it later.. interesting stuff
