Just checked out the tracks. Was between 1 and 6 for me. But got to help out nr1 because i don't get what is so special about 2. No offence, but i don't get why anyone would vote that one.

i did not want to crit that track, which has prob been made in a very small amount of time. But i just think the other tracks do everything it does better. Especially nr1, which has better melodies, better sound, a better beat, and a better arrangement. The Poly beat, while a nice pattern, doesn't swing enough for my tastes, the bit where it goes half time does not sound well with the melody, and the melody itself sounds like Richard Clayderman dicking around. I kind of reminds me of the one Sample comp where someone asked all his homies to vote for his track which clearly wasn't the best.
For the record, nr6 has some great sounds, variation, a nice oldskool elektroish beat, and i would have voted for that one if it wasn't a tie.

"Polylag" got my vote too, nicely crafted, althought there is this minor glitch in the intro (or is it a feature?

) Liked "playbacks a bitch" too, great mood, but i found the drums too busy for too long.
Its each time so interesting to hear such different approaches, bigup to all producers and alphacat for hosting!

Yes you are right, tastes differ. One man's dreamy is another man's emo. That's why i usually refrain from posting about tracks.

I don't think I'm the only one who'll be wondering how you got an "Emo" vibe off ANY of these tracks, mate...
Ambient, Eno-esque synths don't really equate to that?!
I don't see how that is a bad thing, as you seem to be suggesting

it's the semi-dramatical melodies, I don't really like that kinda stuff. But you are right it is not objectively a bad thing, that's just how it sounds to me. Someone else might find it deeply ambient, and like it. But i don't so for me it's one of the reasons that i think other are better.
But nevermind, i'm guessing you made this, so congratulations with the win!

Nah, It's not mine...I wouldn't be such a dick and try and defend my own work

(In fact, I feel slightly embarrassed
mine has gotten ANY votes. It's shocking)
But I politely disagree with the "semi-dramatic melodies" thing, man. There are artists (not even specific to Dubstep) that make great use of emotive melody and ambient atmospherics without sounding saccharin, or whatever. I guess the track in question appeals to my shogaze side which is polar opposite to a lot of Dubstep, but nevermind

Mmm, well bad guess on me then. but all tracks got votes..so at the least you have one.
For the semi-drama: I just can't help but imagine someone putting on a drumbeat and just pressing some keys while looking up at the sky with a faint hint of despair..
But maybe that says more about my imagination than the track. And i didn't even finish mine, so i should shut up

Well done to everyone who did turn in a track!
Ow, and i once tried listening to Amiina or whatever it's called, but it didn't take..

And...
It's another run-off, this time between "
Polylag" and "
Playback's A Bitch" based on the vote:
6 each for the two aforementioned tunes
4 votes for "X Equals A Over B"
2 votes for "Sideways Melt"
2 votes for "I Don't Move"
1 vote for "I Only Liked The Break"
======================================
Tried to reset the poll but it went wonky.
Go pick one of these two tunes and decide who's gonna run bartertown- er, I mean, who's gonna pick the next plug!
Soundcloud
Soundcloud
The run-off will only go for FOUR days as well, ending on the 26th.
This oughta give you something to do this weekend...

A new DSF sample comp would give us something to do for the weekend..
I know we're no brain surgeons on here, but i reckon we can vote this off and start working on a new comp at the same time..

And the winner is...
STEALTH ELF (aka Paravrais) - "Playback's A Bitch."
Big up to Curmee (whose "Polylag" was the other tune in the run-off) and big up to all the entries for this round.
================================
Stealth Elf (aka Paravrais) - "Playback's A Bitch"
Legend4ry - "I Only Liked The Break"
Curmee - "Polylag"
3za - "I Don't Move"
SRNS - "X equals A over B"
Viridis Vir (aka Alphacat) - "Sideways Melt"
================================
Alright, while the Sample Pack comp is up and running Paravrais is gonna have a little homework to do for us. Can't wait for the next one!
