Lets face it, the split in dubstep styles has already happened and the sub genres are pretty much already labelled. The question is, how will you evolve the sound next?

Some of us like one sound while others like another. Others yet like all the sounds.

For those of us who like a style, learning to achieve it is a valid goal.

True I'm not particularly keen on Brostep, but I have helped people on the board learn how to produce the style and there are a few tracks that I do like despite a general disliking to it.

I can't even remember what the point of this thread was. Like most threads on DSF, there are usually one or two useful posts, a few rants, some hatred and a healthy sprinkling of humour.

Some people dislike the breed of forum dwellers here and add some scathing personal criticisms too. Great, go do something else with your time or pitch in and make this place more lively with your views and info too. All the long term contributers here have accepted that DSF members enjoy healthy arguements, random nuggets of useful info and plenty of obscure humour!

If you're really a dick you'll get banned and if not you'll learn to live with it.

What is the real meaning of music? For me its about entertainment ....

The midrange stuff is pure entertainment.... The styles ive been hearing on here are literally the most boring forms
of music i have ever heard in my life.... as i see in a previous post "if i played this to my mates they would be like .... wow wtf is this shite!"

For me i hear all these slow boring pad infested "soulful" dubstep styles and i really think "wow wtf is this shite"
The atmosphere at events that play these styles are beyond the realms of what is boring. No energy no atmosphere.... ZERO FUN!
Dubstep is slow enough so when i hear this kind of style its like smashing 10,000 sleeping tablets and a bottle of JD!

Real soul is about music the moves you... how in the name of fuck can boring ass tracks like these move anyone??... i mean really??

Its also funny how people on here that make decent "Midrange" stuff have so many more comments on soundcloud than those
wack pad fuelled blippy tedious producer tracks who make me want to gouge my eyes out with boredom the minute i hear them.

And on the Drum & Bass comment i heard, to say it sounds the same as 10 years ago is the most retarded thing ive ever heard,
actually try listening to some before making ridiculous comments like that!

Keep dreaming of your 8 tracks in the top 10! it will never happen for you so go get a proper job or go throw them used kleenex's on your floor
in the bin and then help your mum wash the dishes!

You're right, for many people music is a form of entertainment! (Just as endless forum arguements are for me, hence the reason I respond at all)

Again I mostly agree. High energy music = lively spirit amongst the crowd.

Let's not get it confused, high energy music doesn't have to sound as musically nasty as some of the extreme dubstep that is so popular amongst a small niche of ravers. It is okay in itself for shock effect, but I've seen more dancefloors stop due to brostep than I have to 10 year old d'n'b which still had some musicality left in it.

There are also times when high energy music isn't appropriate, like sitting at the top of a hill watching the sunrise after a night of debauchery.

It's a matter of time and place again. I don't listen to gabber when I want some relaxing music on while I read for instance, but I do like ambient music.

To the troll; What you like is pure preference, but considering Dubstep's origins I completely understand why people are irritated when someone jumps onto the bandwagon and cranks out tracks with lots of "energy" but no "soul" (which again, is where this genre came from).

And just because our tunes aren't 8 out of 10 tracks in the Beatport top 10 doesn't make us (as artists) bad or worse than those who are (just like having 8 tracks in the Beatport top 10 doesn't make that artist better than everyone else ), everyone has a different goal when they make music, whether that is to do it for fun or to try and make money, and so making a comment that doesn't really mean anything to most people (and it just makes you sound like a dick, though I'm sure you meant to be like that )...

Also, 'breaking through' as an artist isn't 90% talent and 10% luck (like most artists who have gone mainstream would LIKE you to think) and instead the percentages are very much the other way round; being in the right place in the right time is everything, which is also why there is a lot of talent (both on this forum and in general) that is never recognised because they weren't lucky enough to get noticed by the right people. Hardly anyone makes any money from music, I'm sure that up until a year or so ago that Skream or Benga had a "proper job" to support making their music, and in fact I remember listening to an interview with him saying that Dubstep makes hardly any money at all so yeah...

I'm positive every single one of the deep dub producers here could turn out stomach curdling filthy chart topping noisefucks, it's not a hard genre to write bru, most of it's either sound design wankery anyway which isn't hard to 1up anyone on.

They choose not to, because it's not about that. For you to come on here and bitch at them about being jealous and wishing they could hit it big is really thick, they chose a genre that isn't very big for the same reason I produce ambient tracks on the side, because they like it, not because they give a fuck how big they get.

I personally prefer the deep space dubstep, and will openly admit I would be making it if I had the patience.
