edit.: ... in the south at least it seems inevitable for the sound to be much different. Big events here are typically at outdoor festivals, possibly even midday. Bass heavy tunes sound best in a diffuse-field like a small club, midrange bangers sound best in a free-field. Also, because festivals are usually held nonstop over 3 days and most people are tripping there is a demand for large quantities of easily digestible music.

I watched about a minute of the video. Oh dear.

He raised a valid point in the sense that Dubstep is thriving at least partly because girls can get into it. Not because they're stupid, because the scene is about enjoying yourself, the music and having a good time, and therefore accessible to girls. It's at least partly due to the lack of posturing hyper-machoism that you are seeing BIG student dubstep nights and dubstep shows full of teenage Uni girls. There are a lot of people who love the sound but if the girls weren't turning up to the shows you know 75% of the guys would loose interest straight away TRUST ME!

They obviously don't love the sound because in the 5 years ive been into dubstep have I gone to a club and thought.. "corr, theres not enough girls here - i'm going to go home". I go to nights to experience Dubstep on huge systems. This isn't bling bling garage.

Yeah they don't love the sound. 3/4 of the people at a dubstep (student) night are just they're coz it's the place everyone else is. You can't seriously think that every guy at a dubstep club is there because of how much they love the music? My whole point is that dubstep is able to flourish BECAUSE it's not full of posers and badmen like garage/funky, so girls can get into it. And a club with girls in is gonna get guys in it, no matter what they're playing. Thems the facts.

BTW after reading my last post I can see I didn't phrase it very well. I meant to say there are a lot of people who do love the sound, but most of the guys at the club will STILL be tag-a-longs out for a good night (no harm in that) and if the girls vanished, they wouldn't be staying just for the music.

Also, to belalala who said "that assclown is everything i hate about american dubstep" - I'd agree. That guy is everything I hate about American dubstep too - but we're working to fix this. Hopefully the amount of GOOD will eclipse the amount of BAD.
