Ugh.
If you're any bit interested in the fps/rpg or scifi genres you've got to play it. Human Revolution is a prequel at least, so you could always play the first game afterwards. Although I'd imagine it being difficult since HR is that much more amazing graphically.
Just recently the
New Vision mod was released, a high resolution texture pack that replaces about 75% of the original games textures.
I agree and I've seen that youtube vid of that texture pack. Amazing.
If I wasn't away from home I would be playing the ps2 port I have of Deus Ex right now, trust.

Samourai wrote:This game is going to be incredible. I've got it pre-ordered on Steam. Played a bit of the leaked preview build and it confirmed my purchase, didn't play very long so I wouldn't spoil myself. Just recently I made myself push through the first game after owning it for a couple of years. I could never get past the first section without losing interest which is apparently the same case for a lot of people because its just not a very good introduction but once you're past that it's one of the greatest PC games in existence.
And now my hype for this game is through the roof.
IMO the first Deus Ex is up there with the first Half Life 1998, Another World 1991 and Doom (1995?). It was a seminal game.
Can't wait for Mass Effect 3 either!

Big up Samourai on the New Vision heads up, serious
I remember my mapping/modding days of this game, I was waiting for a HD texture pack for years then got bored waiting an uninstalled it.
Is DX3 really out now then?! Christmas has come early

^ Lucky bastard! I might actually have to go out and pick up the boxed version. Not sure I can be fucked waiting for my Cornish internet to download it, then (no doubt) the obligatory 2GB post-release insta-patch.
SO HYPED FOR THIS GAME!

It's going to take me 4 hours to download at 550KB/s. I can't get any faster as I live two miles away from the exchange

Will have to download it tonight when I get home, meaning I'll probably have it by about 2am

Bought the game earlier and have seshed it for a couple of hours now.
Really enjoying it so far. The emphasis on choice and options to go about objectives is the best thing about the game, there are multiple paths to take and they all end up spouting different outcomes. The first major choice scenario you'll probably encounter is in the second mission (won't divulge details as to keep this spoiler free) and for doing 'the good thing' i've been rewarded in upgrades. The combat seems solid but the controls seem to be a bit fiddly for the mean time, they are most reminiscent of the rainbow six series, i.e take cover using the left trigger and aim by clicking in the right stick (might be better on the pc).
I'd definitely recommend it though, the detail is brilliant and it's rare you get a shooter that doesn't require you to march from point A to B shooting everything in your way.. i imagine there will be tons of replayability.

I picked it up about 6 years after release for £6. Possibly the best game purchase I've made.

for those of you needing to upgrade for battlefield 3, be aware that there is a promo going on right now for MULTIPLE graphics cards that when you buy the graphics card you get a free download code for Deus Ex 2: Human Revolution (yes the new one not the old one). You also get Dirt 3 for free as well with it. Pretty great promo if you're in the market for a 1gb graphics card for under $250.
