I think one of the BEST albums ive ever heard has got to be....

'Boards of Canada - Geogaddi'

Im still yet to find something that's better.

'Squarepusher - Feed Me Weird Things'

comes in second, mainly due to discovering it while i was at the age of 12 and it blew my mind as i was at the time a massive hendrix fan and guitar player.

Bump or Funeral by Arcade Fire. The melodies and arrangements in this album are just beautiful and the only other album I can think of that evokes the same emotions from me is Untrue. The songs of it also sound fantastic live.

If only all indie was like this...

Luomo-Vocalcity: My 'perfect' electronic album. i can listen to all the individual tracks or the cd as a whole at anytime and i'll never get sick of it. also amazing how the songs are very accessible with pop hooks and repetition but at the same time they're all over ten minutes long and are full of subtle changes, weird found sounds and other experimentation.

My 'perfect' non electronic album but I can't really explain why: a combination of timeless music and memories maybe?
:D

As a member of the new generation:
Image
Anyone who's heard this knows that it's pure gold.

Image
The first one was darker and skany, but this one had more soul to it imo, Homeless, Dog Shelter, and obviously, Archangel bring it home imo.

Image
This album was simply wicked. Nothing less, tune after tune!

Image
Love these guys!

Image
This was his last good album imo, absolute killers all over it.

One of the main reasons I started making music tbh. Seeing that one man orchestrated this entire album pretty much set me for life. Not just this, but all his singles before and after it, absolutely outstanding. Check this out

And finally

Similar story to Kanye. Plan B's new stuff is shit. I remember listening to this album religiously a few years ago.

Kanye West? Really? I don't think it has to do with being a different generation, not all the music in this thread is older, it's just not music you can find by listening to the top 40.

By the way you really should get on Gorillaz first album, it blows their other stuff away.

I loved the instrumentals really, I'm a big hiphop lover, that album had that oldschool vibe rolling throughout. Much like liquid funk drum & bass.

I did, I didn't like it all to much really, it had it's highlights, but for me, Demon Days was 5stars from start to finish

And paravis: By saying "As a member of the new generation" I just meant that my selections would be fairly recent albums. I've not really been listening to for that long. 6 years ago, my life was cartoon network.

I guess I'll throw a couple more up just for the hell of it since it's still here.

Temple of the Dog's self titled first and only album.

Buckethead - Colma and Electric Tears

Rage Against the Machine - Renegades

My first introduction to Rage Against the Machine was with Evil Empire, but I didn't really get into them until the release of Renegades. Renegades sort of got me to pay more attention to them and start going back and listening to their earlier releases.

Staind - Dysfunction

Staind kind of got old fast, but I absolutely love this album. I love Aaron's blend of harmony and screaming in this album. Even today I could put this on and listen to the entire thing from start to finish and still enjoy it just as much as I used to.
