@ 1:50
How do you make those metallic hits? They are pretty common, just pinch was the first example that came to mind. I'm guessing some sort of piano with delay?

I can make Skrillex noises and whatnot, but this is the one type of sound I cant quite crack.

The bass/synth that comes in at 00:55. I get there's a mandatory sub in there but what's the rest made up of?

Also kinda here in @ 02:04

Now I am not saying that the sound that Nero uses in "me and you" is easy, however it seems fairly simple. I am not going to act like I can perfectly create it but I feel like I have come reasonably close. I have never actually sat down and tried to make that exact sound and I am not even saying that If I wanted to I could. However, I do know that Nero uses massive as well do I. I'm not sure what daw he uses. The sound i made starts around 1:08 of this track Soundcloud. Also in this track I used a slightly different bass but similar around 0:40. Soundcloud
this is how I made the sound from the second song "Step right up" (I apologize in advance if this is nothing like what you are looking for but it sounds similar to me):
- this is all made in massive
OSCILLATORS
Osc 1: Chrome, set to bend -, set at generic octave, wavetable position set at about 9 oclock, intensity around the same, and the amp all the way up
Osc 2: Strontium, set to spectrum, set at same octave, used envolope one (attack level all the way up, and the decay level all the way up as well) to modulate the wavetable position from 11:00 - 2:00, intensity all the way up, amp at about 3:00.
Osc 3: Squelchy, set to spectrum, set at same octave, with wavetable position, intensity, and amp all the way up.
Modulation Osc: Turn on oscillator 1 phase modulation with pitch set at one octave below (-12) and set the phase at about 10:00.

FILTER SECTION
set to parallel with the second filter on but nothing in it.
Filter 1 : set to bandreject, apply envelope 1 to modulate the cutoff from about 9:00 to all the way up, Use macro control 2 to modulate the bandwith from being all the way to the left to about 9:30. Use this same macro to modulate the resonance from being all the way to the left to about 2:00.

VOICING SECTION
Set max and unisono voices both to 6, set to monophon, turn ON the pitch cut off, and use the shift key to move the cursor ever so slightly to the right (so much so that you can hear the difference, but the knob shouldn't look like it moved at all barley). turn pan position ON but leave knob all the way to the left.

OSC SECTION
I turned the time to about 11:00 so the glisses between notes are their but are a bit faster.

INSERT 1 SECTION
Sine shaper, dry/wet at 9:00, drive at 12:00

FX 1 SECTION
Brauner tube, dry/wet at 11:30, drive at 11
FX 2 SECTION
Dimension expander, dry/wet at 12, size at 12. (this makes the sound bigger, but with this setting you will most likely have to cut off the tail because it does linger a bit)
EQ SECTION
Everything on its generic setting except the High shelf is boosted to about 1-2:00.
Lastly I cut off anything below 150-200 hz and added in sub bass, resampled it, adding some distortion then eq'ing, then resampled again and added some more subtle effects. If this isn't what you are looking for I'm sorry, but i really like it. also if you would like to know how i made the bass from the first track let me know, and I'll show you that as well.

Here's what it sounds like to me, and I made a patch that sounds similar (but not exact). it sounds like a few things are going on. Obviously there is an envolope controlling the pitch. but it also sounds like there is an envelope modulating the resonance as well so as the pitch goes up, so does the resonance. It also sounds like there is a bit of chorus on it to spread the sound out. There also seems to be some reverb and or heavy delay on the sound as well. There also seems to be no real attack at the start so it might just be starting off with the wet portion of the delay from the signal. if this is close to what you are looking for , then let me know and I'll explain what I did.

I'm pretty sure the first one is a distorted guitar with a sub underneath, not quite sure tho :W:
I would like to now how to make the synth starting at 0:22 in the netsky remix of Everyday.

Sorry if this is answered :W:

I'm trying to figure out how to get that sort of down ramp-ish vibrato thing going on in the synth at 1 minute. It has a very shallow vibrato type thing on it and everything I've been putting on mine gives it a really dramatic deep change in the cutoff. I hear quite a few producers that will have a synth envelope with a slow cut off build that then moves into this effect. I have a feeling it's probably not all one synth, but one moving into another, maybe I'm wrong though. Could anyone elaborate for me please?

Thanks

its sampled or resampled in a sampler.
load the synth you want to vibrato set the start loop and end loop points in to the sample a ways and set sampler to loop
so if the sample looked like
MMMMMNNNNAAAMMM playing the sample looped would look like
MMMMMNNNNAAAMMMAAAMMMAAAMMMAAAMMMAAAMMMAAAMMM

lol thats supposed to look like a wave for

ive talked to twist a couple times and he makes mostly all his sounds either massive or fm8 and when he processes the shit out of them he throws them in kontakt and the reason why it sounds like is doing a vibrato is because he looped it ;)

How would I make a Synth like this?

Okay this has probably been asked many times before on the forum but I am wondering how i would make a synth that is airy.

Airy you may ask, the kind sounds that mt Eden or Burial use. They are kind high pitched but without the piercing bit. Something like the opening to Sierra Leone. Ive check out all the synth posts but cant seem to reproduce the same kinda sound myself.

On another note what is the best VST to produce this sound...

Just don't make something that sounds like a robot farting. You could start with something very simple like a sine wave, and add some efx's, and a load of reverb to get what you want, or you could start with something more complex like a few saws, and then go about making them thinner, and more distant. You could start with a sample, and work it into what you want. Their are 99,000,000 way to go about making a airy sounds. I think you would be best off learning your synth/sample/daw inside out, and experimenting.

They should never be used in the same sentence...

the fact that you mentioned wanting to mimic Mt. Eden, means that I cannot actually respond to this post in full. All I will say is - play around with cutoff and reverb.
