But I do think a lot of bandwagon-jumping is going on. This isn't a new phenomenon though, happens every time some subgenre / wave /movement starts getting some attention. Fortunately some good music gets made in the process!

So, first post but long time lurker...

For me this change in direction is only a good thing because for th first time in a good few years I've been enjoying going out to clubs again. As much as I love the deep half-step and enjoy it on big systems, it's not party music for the most part.

When I first started going to nightclubs (unfortunately this was about 15 years ago) DJs would play lots of different styles over a night; house, techno, faster, slower, etc... DJs played what was good.

At this moment I'm listening to a Oneman set that has hip-hop, garage, house, techno and dubstep in it and this newer sound that you're talking about fits perfectly into this and more importantly, it works in clubs.

The likes of Oneman, Jackmaster, Bok Bok, L-Vis, Loefah, Joy O, etc... are keepin the clubbing scene fresh and interesting. If this isn't your thing then don't worry, there's loads of good half step being made too.

Imagine the uproar if Burial's next album is housey!

P.S. A lot of my house-purist mates would tell you that none of this is hous music

house is the one element of all this new stuff i don't relate to, i loved acid house and still do, i supose i like and love a good handfull of house tunes.. but on the whole it's not where i'm coming from, definitely feeeling the more UR style of things.
