Oh well lol I should have specified. I made this in an attempt to reproduce the Scatta bass with only FM8 and no external effects or plugins. Aside from testing my own sound designing abilities I have no interest in reproducing Skrillex bass sounds.

i guess its bcoz im annoyed with this thread in general.. i dont see why a whole leap of ppl r begging for a tutorial for ONE sound. i have learnt a lot on this site however when it comes to sound design its so muchh more worth it doing it yourself & just spending all your time in your DAWs than gallivanting on youtube.. iv been producing since the days of FL 3 so im used to not relying on guides because i had to figure everything out over the years with pretty much no guidance. its fun trying to recreate complex sounds for learning experience but having a tutorial/patch handed to you is crap IMO, its more pointless than cheating because you wont really become as amazing as u wish to be this way lol. im sure the more skilled people here know this but thought id just express this anyway.

dear oh dear. its called learning from example, its a process which has been proven over many centuries. Some people learn better that way, who are you to criticize? And what purpose does it serve?

there are currently 6 threads on the front page alone talking about the same thing.
I can`t believe that is the only sound that is important?
this is the reason that soo many tunes are sounding the same.
no-one is even bothering to create original sounds.
don`t give me the learning from example argument, learning from the same example over and over and over and over and over is not learning.
this point is becoming redundant

Well IMO this has changed from being a Skrillex thread into a thread about making general RAR noises on FM8
I suppose you could argue that's the same thing but I haven't been aiming for a Skrillex sound, just aiming to get some tuff sounds coming out of a synth I was new to.

Electric_Head, I get that you're fed up of seeing the same Skrillex threads, I am too, but this one is specific to FM8 (not sure if the others are based purely on FM8? I haven't read them) and in my opinion there has been some good knowledge shared in this thread. You're the first person to come in here being negative really. All I see in here is a bunch of people new to FM8 sharing some knowledge. Did you even read the whole thing before you started moaning?

i dont know if that was aimed at me but im just expressing my opinion as i said there are other non existing sounds out there waiting to be created.. & im no skrillex hater, i kinda like his sounds & the impact it has.. sometimes my productions sound a bit skrillexy in all honesty since i like the style, BUT i never show or release anything yet bcoz im just doing it for practice sake to develop into something else. i recreated quite a few of his sounds nearly a year ago on different synths/by resampling sometimes and it was fun accidentally creating other interesting sounds by doing this. i personally think the tutorial and preset stuff isnt really the way, its a lot more useful diving in the depths of sound design rather than taking shortcuts. i feel it becomes more possible to create any sound you hear/imagine when taking this approach.

I learned FM8 front to back by trying to recreate the HHNNGGG bass from scary monsters, then i developed my own bass whilst trying to make something else.

now i just make variants of my own bass : ]

Nah, I get it, he's everywhere at the moment, even on our beloved forum and it is annoying. I think the title of this thread is misleading really

I agree that it is irritating to see all of the hype about Skrillex on threads and stuff and I know how "Cool" it is to hate on him. BUT. Lets take a look at what he's done: In the course of 2/3 years he has found a way to influence 1,431,758 people (according to facebook) and countless more including producers/dj's and the like, he managed to find a place on Deadmau5's label, released an album of which the ENTIRE album made the Top 10 on Beatport <---(HUGE accomplishment), and managed to tour and find a home amongst some of the biggest named producers in the entire electronic genre. Not bad lol Im not kissing his ass or anything but to me there is no surprise in my mind at all that he is as discussed as he is all for having a unique sound. I hate to see all these threads too but damn, dude's done extremely well for himself and I gotta give him props for that.

Same and have also been around since the days FL was called Fruityloops... ,,, and before the youtube time id always learn something by working with someone else, you see someone do something diffrent to you and you think.. Oh yea! and then u incorporate it into your own knowledge,, From my point of view i dont want the tutorial so i can have an exact copy just so i can see/discuss something new,,, maybe something clever on the math side of things... or an interesting routing technique.

and yes i do see how it would be annoying seeing these threads, espcially if they read like a "quick" fix, and not looking forward to Fm8 being the next massive >< which is the impression im getting latly
