its not just "stuff i don't like" I dislike a lot of shit that ain't brostep

"Bro" step is "for the bros". It's rowdy, obnoxious, E pill-and-glowstick, shirtless fitted cap, "OH MY GOD" hardcore halfstep.

Dubstep, even the heavy tearout dubstep, sounds better, feels better, doesn't convey that attitude. It's steppers' music
Really not a hard thing to discern the difference. All types of sounds are used in both, its how they're arranged and used. Example being bitcrushed wubs. AKA YOY's. They aren't used the same in good dubstep but they are used.

yea i thought i went back in time to 90s rave fashion when i saw kids with glowsticks and bandanas and shit at a reso show
some girl looked offended when i laughed in her face and said no when she tried giving me glowsticks
me and reso actually had a good laugh at those guys

I admit, I don't hate skrillex. Don't much like him but I'm neutral. I hate the people that are all "Shkrillex dood" without knowing anything about edm. That's why I go all "skrillex sux" on them.

It works, I know plenty of people I like who I'd call assholes (though I do agree with you that brostep isn't any real clearcut genre). As for Skrillex, he's got talent, though to me his music sounds horrible, but I feel bad he gets all these 13 year olds thinking he's dubstep, leading to him getting hate from dubstep fans, when he himself doesn't even claim to produce dubstep.

and i have to agree with most people here:

he's not terrible, it's just weird that he's the "face" of dubstep - when there is so much better music out there.

but seriously - is any of this a surprise? listen to the fucking radio... uncreative, obnoxious, loud music caters to MILLIONS of people.

This conversation rages on and on.

I only offer a neutral statement: There is a huuuuuge difference in vibe between "Haunted" and "Scary Monsters and Nite Sprites"

hes not even dubstep though a lot of tunes are like sub-130bpm electro 4x4 aren't they?

ugh i can't believe i'm discussing skrillex again wtf
Anyways everyone knows hes got talent, and i wouldnt even call his shit uncreative.. I just think its wack
I think he has shitty taste....

And all this post-dubstep fallout, Korn, Skrillex, etc.. its just a result of people learning from dubstep that:
A. Wobble is trendy, and
B. EDM can be halftime

So then anything with a wobble or a halfstep beat was deemed dubstep . But only by ignorant morons.

that's actually pretty cool, deadly. i mean, anyone that says they wouldn't jump on the commercial bandwagon is lying. you can make commercial music AND deep, thoughtful, artistic music.

i'd produce shit tunes if i could make bank off them. can't blame an artist for making money, they can still make art on their own time.

For the record, I listen to "bro-step". I don't wear fitted caps, I don't get drunk OR do drugs, or go anywhere except for swimming and showering shirtless, or twirl around glowsticks or any of that stuff, and neither do any of my friends that listen to the same music. Your statment may be true for some, but is a vast generalization. It would be like me saying that all "deep heads" are pseudo-indy creeped out potheads that don't shower and love to talk about the "good 'ol days of dubstep". Obviously this is not true, but just like ther'es plenty of bros, there's plenty of those guys too...

@deadly habit: That's true to an extent, but there's plenty of rip off and biting going on in the "deep sound" as well. And on another note, I'm pretty sure spor did work with korn on that album as well :u:

If you hate Skrillex because of "what he's done to" dubstep, you're a hipster turd.

I'm not sure that follows. Hipsterism (bearing in mind, "hipster" is a pejorative) basically revolves around a false sense of elitism, false in that it's tied to obscurity such that obscurity makes something elite. Hence the joke... how many hipsters does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Oh, I'd tell you, but it's a really obscure number I'm sure you've never heard of.
