Got to be honest I really don't appreciate living in London until I see threads like this...

There is always some kind of Dubstep night going on most nights of the week here. Not all are great but there is pretty much always a decent selection. Luckily we get a selection of which sub-genre in dubstep we want to listen to as well.

The best thing for me is being able to hop on the tube (though it is a journey most the way across the metropolitan line) and go to Fabric. Sound systems really don't get much better. Though the one they had in Matter in the 02 made my friends face feel so uncomfortable he had to go outside when someone dropped Nero's remix of Hypercaine. Good times...

Here in Nebraska, the bass scene is nonexistent.

I think I'm on the only guy who's into dubstep here. In Cardiff I know there's a lot of commercial dubstep nights, I know Benga is playing Cardiff soon. I'm poor as the day is long so I don't get much of a chance to go to anything like that.

I gotta go see Youngsta, gotta hear badman VIP live before I die. :)
i guess i could say the bass scene is amazing here in manchester considering i've seen badman vip live twice in the space of about 3 months then haha, seen both kryptic minds and youngsta this year.

Cardiff is ment to have a huge scene out there. Check out Inner Bass Radio, they have some good dj's who play their own tracks.

Sorry if this is advertising(?)

yeah i never really thought about this either. cant exactly just decide on a last minute trip to fwd to see distance/jkenzo/vivek/district/sleeper anywhere else! sometimes i feel like i should be going to virtually every event i like the look of though, was proper gutted that i missed the getdarker xmas party but it's not exactly like there's a shortage.

basically if you live anywhere else but london, move here

I'm back and forth between Paris and Philly. Just got back to the states yesterday to the sad realization that the bass scene is still pretty much shit :( (if anyone disagrees, please please enlighten me). Sure, philly has Starkey, but thats about it. Oh yeah, and the Roots. Paris sure isn't London, but there is a decent scene, and its far better than anything in the states for sure. A few of the clubs, namely Rex and Social club have had some big names the last few months, like Mala, Loefah, Addison Groove, Girl Unit, Funkystepz, Mosca, Kito, DVA and others. plus local badman French Fries. There is a load of house and techno, plus a few regular brostep nights, but the good stuff is there too if you look for it. Photek pulled a no-show at a boat party :a:

If all else fails, London is close enough to plan a weekend.

I wouldn't count on it. I'm getting the fuck out of here in 2012. I'd say Edinburgh's scene is being heavily supported by the stellar work being done by Nick at Sneaky's, primarily - then you've got Simon at Xplicit booking solid acts at the heavier end, plus Electrikal filling in the gaps elsewhere - all three entities doing great work.

As for producers - it's pretty grim. Paranoise left for Glasgow, as did Teklo - I'm leaving for NYC, and so there's a handful of solid producers left, but it's rare that they get booked because most promoters prefer to get out of town acts in it seems - for the bigger shows anyway.

I dunno - I feel a bit out of touch, since I barely DJ at all in Edinburgh. I've done more proper shows in NYC than I have in Edinburgh and I've been here for 28 years now!

Although there is no scene whatsoever where I live, I am lucky enough to be able to get to London, Birmingham, Nottingham or Manchester quite easily so i'm not too fussed.

I quite enjoy having to put in the effort to go & listen to music I really like, feels so much more worthwhile.
