anyone making dungeon is not likely to bring anything new to the table. the whole sound is getting really repetitive and formulaic, much like tear-out/brostep. i'm looking forward to whatever mr blake's coming up with next. also producers who put the future in to future garage. big ups
A few suggestions on the more musical/experimental/FG side of things who deserve a bit of attention next year:
Sipp & Steamgoat (both individually and together)
Sorrow
Mirror State
Ak0pian
Fedbymachines

2012 will be the year where dungeon hits it's peak and then dies.

personally I think it has already happened. Think more producers are gonna be producing a more diverse range of subby tunes without adhering to what seemed to have become a pretty rigid rules involved in making dungeon. Hoping so anyway

Where did this whole "dungeon" thing come from? Didn't we used to call it 'dubstep'?

Not sure but I think dungeon fits the sound perfectly. After all, when I said dungeon, you knew exactly what music I meant.

Think Dungeon came about because people were sick of saying they like dubstep and then getting asked if they like Skrillex.

If I'm not mistaken it was a phrase Toast used on the Youngsta show on rinse. "deep dark dungeon sounds" or something similar.

Hmm, I can sympathise with that believe me!
But all they've really done is come up with a name to make the deep, dark stuff sound just as formulaic and boring as the tearout ("brostep") stuff.
I guess it's just a name, but I still don't think it bodes well.
Anyway, didn't mean to set the thread off on a tagent.
2012: Whoever said Riffs - YES.
