melody is cheesy and unoriginal
people go mental for that for the same reason they go mental for ungodly awful cheesy filth step remixes of pop songs --- familiarity + typical rave bullshit aesthetic

people don't really give two fucks whether something's good... they want to hear what they already know, can hum along to, its a novelty to hear a raved out version of the pirates theme.
I fucking hate novelty music.. whether its an orchestra butchering "Black Hole Sun" or the fucking Postal Service, or a half-step star wars theme remix

Given the constraints of music at 130bpm i think its a decent reworking of the score genus. Technically i dont see a reason to call it 'cheesy and unoriginal'. How would you do it in a manner you would not call 'cheesy'? There are only 4 1/16 notes per beat. Also there is very, very, subtle some vocal effect processing in the background which is not really reproducible, i dont say that about many tracks. I disagree entirely that it is cheesy. The fade out from the classical score and into the trance lead is very nice in my opinion. The bass sound is excellent, nice choice to make constant driving 1/16 note. The note spacing in the melody gives an off-beat drive to the whole thing.

I have transcribed some of the pirate score and the the tiesto version so i dont think i would describe myself as, nor would i write of entire swathes of humanity with:
