The main reason for me is simply because I find that real dubstep is a billion times more interesting and emotion-invoking in me than brostep mid-range shit. But that's my personal opinion.

Ha, yeah pretty much this. Minds Eye was huge for me back in the day.

ok the reason that people are protective is because....
badman like good things, badman like the best things... as a matter of fact
badman like to wear the best clothes, they like to uhhm drive the best cars, they like to listen to the best music

I don't see how the dungeon sound is as far gone from the original dubstep sound as brostep? It's closer.

Why i'm slightly protective over it. And i have by no means been there from the start but.....
This was on about 5 status' on my FB today
Alien 1: 'So, did the humans get our message?'
Alien 2: 'Yes, but they've called it 'dubstep' and now dance to it.
Now I can't say this for sure, but im pretty confident that Aliens language doesn't translate to Anti War Dub.
My point being is that the perception of what dubstep is even to people who don't listen to it at all, is that its just fart noises and the sound of cats getting slaughtered. And this annoys me, it shouldn't, but it does.
Just my 2 cents

I have just come back from system, and am still feeling occasionaly teary with emotion. The night had a rawness, a passion and a feeling that I have not experienced since the excitement of the early days of dmz. This is why people are protective. The best moments of my life are all at dmzs and similar nights from back in 2006-8. The last year or two, I havent been to one night that even NEARLY captured those feelings. Even dmz had lost the original feeling by the end, with crowds of people turning up expecting and creating the wrong thing. So when I get to go to a night that actually has everything that I have always held dear and associated with dubstep in the past, and it brings about as much deep rooted passion and emotion as it did, I ask you to rethink your question. This isnt just music to ALOT of people.
Over the last few years I've listened to a lot of grime, house, fgarage, techno, post-dubstep, glitch, wonky & bro waiting for the few djs who have stuck to dubstep.
Some of it is very danceable & creative but it's not my true love.
I went to Defekt #5 the other night & at times was stoked to feel that 06/08 VOID vibe.
The promoters have persisted, despite small attendances, to invite known/unknown local djs & producers
(such as Tee Freqs & Commit on this night) who play a mix of older & self-produced proppa ds.
The crowd is gradually increasing & there is a bigger proportion of women than before.
No dubplates yet but most new tracks on CDs had been mastered.
Other djs played techier harder stuff & wonky...
but there are signs of sodden dubstep being crisped by new enthusiasm.

As stated on the last page, the original sound is a lot more than music we just go nuts to with our bro's, it's more than just music to a lot.

I'm not into his music but while everyone was busy giving Skrillex bullshit and free publicity talking about it, he was busy working hard, well done on his 3 grammys.
'Best dance recording' / 'Best electronic album' / 'Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical'. Karma fucked you over haters, not a mention of the D word.
Paul McCartney said it best, something like "..the music belongs to us all, only the companies / corporations wish to have rights and licenses to own it."
