il be interested to see if a KTN video gets posted, did the tracks get fully completed in the end or are they half finished?

Now I can't make out the effects or inserts, but I personally used C-Tube & Dimension Expander as effects and P Shaper and Bitcrush on the inserts.

Sounds okay with some multiband compression, just not as clean as the bass he made.
We already established he used bandpass filters, not bandreject. And I'm pretty sure it was a Scrap Yard waveform not Modern Talking

I watched him drag the multiband's on. He's not familar with Ableton Live, and it looked like he dragged 3 on because he wasn't getting the volume/impact/sound he wanted from just one, so he dragged 2 more on as a quick way to triple the compression instead of fiddling with the knobs. He didn't adjust them beyond dragging in 3 Multiband Compression presets and pushing the middle band gain up to 9db or so on the first compressor. He wasn't doing anything special that he needed 3, other than to save time

Yeah sorry I meant bandpass :P I used Modern Talking simply because one of the images looks like "M-Talk" although later in the stream they did mention the Scrap Yard wavetable - either works tbh.

And yeah he literally just slapped the compressors on, no tweaking although they ended up removing the third one. His reasoning was just that it increases the impact of the sound and beefs up the stuff you might not normally hear.

3 compressors is much more than triple the compression, unless they were all 1:1..
The ratios multiply with each bit of compression..3 should've squashed the shit out of it.
Odd method he's choosing but if it works..

The Miami one is over but mau5 is planning to do another when his new home studio is done. There's a few videos of the screencast knocking around youtube though.

Also to whoever said they'd like to see KTN work - they didn't screencast his work, he chose to do it on his own Macbook and bounce them some audio, he only talked briefly to one of the kids about his methods of synthesis.

Yeh, seems like a pretty shitty method but it definitely worked, because a few of the people their were like WTF? so they took them off and played the raw bass from Massive then turned them on and it was a lot better.

It looks like he was using three of the OTT preset from the Multiband Dynamics plug in Ableton. Interesting.

yeah i saw them turn the compressors off and it sounded terrible like but to be honest i didnt reallty like the sound at that point when they had them turned on aswel but just interested how they did it so i can experiment with it. They deffinitly spent too much time arguing over methodology than just plodding on with the track
That 'glitch hop' track is decent though, does anyone know how much time they actually got to complete the tracks out of interest?

I tried to recreate the Feed Me Bass in FL (with the help of screenshots and tipps posted in this forum ;-) ) and it sounds close to the original but there is missing something. I posted some previews and the preset-/projectfile on the Image-Line forum so you can play around with it.

I know what you mean, Feed Me's basses only sound good because of the way he structures the notes with perc and leads imo.

I think they had a ~12hr session to do the tracks, but yeah a lot of time seemed to be wasted by just pissing around and not really doing much.

I'll give it a look, sounds decent enough - quite similar to the one I came up with, probably just needs some tweaking.

Great work. Can you please upload the massive preset as a .ksd? I don't use FL Studio.

So, I'm kicking myself for not recording the video, but here is nearly a half hour of Jon working on his contribution to the track.

This is the part I missed so thanks for uploading :4: . Do you know if someone recorded the whole stream (video and audio)?

Thanks for the ksd. I haven't seen a video recording of the part where Jon was working in Massive.

found it interesting when Spor's talking about how when he was making DnB he'd make his basses in mono so the needles wouldn't skip when they got cut to vinyl. The kid suggests splitting the frequencies and making the low end mono, and he says he's never done anything like that before. Wonder if he meant he's never frequency split, or never split and put the lows in mono while leaving the highs in stereo.
