I just don't understand how pretty much everyone loves "The Lions Theme" aka "Mersha" by Kromestar, but they don't like Noiz.

By the way, speaking of Dark Tantrums, he's still giving away a free tune(s) at 1000 twitter followers so lets get that sorted!

sn0wday wrote:I never said noiz is a shitty tune, but it is midrangey and distorted sounding. Just like stuff on Rottun.

I listen to a lot from Rottun. As I listen to a lot of deeper labels. I don't think either is better or worse, just different IMO.

But it's so silly when a tune like this comes out and it gets respect, but Rottun is easily one of the least respected labels on this forum...
Plenty of shit tunes on Rottun or anywhere else that sound "Banging on a system", like i said, pretty much ANYTHING brostep and all sounds huge on a system. Noiz does sound big ob my 2 15"s, but no bigger than most anything else I thrown on there, bro or not.

The point of this thread was not to hate on Noiz, but point out how bias and hypocritical most of this forum is.

Post midrange-y tune by midrange-y bro prodycer --> Tune gets hated on.
Post midrange-y tune by deep, old school producer ---> "Nahh man you just need to hear it on a system" giantsoundsystem.jpeg

Don't add up.

Good tune, definitely not brostyle or excision related

It's hard, but it works well when it has funk like this. Similar to how coki can use the craziest noises ever, but it retains the funk which is required in music plz. Also not switching synth sounds every 2 bars. Gets on my nerves.

I dont get all the hate on noiz, it sounds like a banger to me. It's not like the midrange is really all that cumbersome, its really grimey. Sounds like this could easily mix with anything and the baseline seems intense even from my sub at home

Both tunes are pretty mediocre in my mind but whatever not every is perfect 100% of the time.

False, i do.

That Trim tune is big as well. Fucking love Trim these days, Boogeyman was decent back in the day but I can't think of a whole lot else I really liked from him. Now hes worked with Dark Tantrums, James Blake and his I Am tune got an LV remix. A great example of the potential grime MCs have WORKING with dubstep producers.. not just randomly spitting over tunes like P Money recently :u:

It's a decent tune, I do love Kromestar's heavier bits, but there are better ones out there.

What's the name of the Kromestar tune with an R2D2 and C3PO sample? Heard it on his Get Darker show a few months back, think it's an unreleased bit still. Good example of a wicked heavy tune by him, imo.

It's called R2D6, great tune.

flood wrote:I'm neutral on this matter, but I would like if Kromestar would release some less aggy tunes, along the lines of his tunes on Cosmic Bridge and with Jay 5ive. Alone was a great, non-aggy tune he released, and Creeper and Old Face could do with a vinyl release (despite being freebies, but Alone was free for a bit too).
Less aggy = 'My Sound' / 'Colourful Vibrations' albums

Sonika wrote:Honestly if the tune can only be interesting on a system, then it doesn't mean much to me. I mean sure, obviously the ideal listening experience for maximal pleasure is on a full soundsystem, but I just listen to tunes at home on my cans and they're great. If it's not interesting on headphones, it may still be great on a system, but it's not on par with all the other great tunes that are BETTER on a system but still great in cans or car speakers or something imo.

Just my 2 cents
You're just missing a tiny part of dubstep though Sonika, dubstep was originally made to be played on a system, so there are indeed some tracks that are amazing on a system, and not on your home setup, this is something you won't understand until you go to a dubstep rave, trust me :) and this is also something I feel is missing in dubstep these days, not enough system tunes!
