I was into hip hop, rap and rock, then I heard Skrillex and Knife Party and got into Dubstep. One day I wondered how do they make that music? And I googled it, download FL, and 2 years later here I am.

I have played guitar (very badly) really since I can remember but a friend in 9th grade suggested I download fruity loops
and make tracks on there after showing me his songs.
So I downloaded a torrent and made joke songs that I would send to friends
usually with the flspeech thing ranting about genitals or something else of the sort.
Gave up fruity loops for a while after that.
Took a highschool song writing class which got me using garageband and then about a year later
learned about dub-step and wondered how they did it...
Now I'm here. :t:

When I realized that relying on band members was a crapshoot at best, I started writing my own songs in guitar pro/tux guitar/sibelius kind of things. From then I heard you could take that midi data and put synthesizers on it, so I did.

First dubstep I heard was Skream & The Widdler. Then I got into Rusko, Reso, Datsik, etc. I never really liked the mainstream shit like Scary Monsters and basscannon but a few songs I heard on AMTV Clubland were ok. Never really liked dance music either. Bores me hearing the same loop for like 2 minutes.
How is crap like Rusko, Reso or Datsik any less mainstream than 'Scary Monsters'? I find Scary Monsters EP much more intertaining and creative than these boring ass 'artists'. At least Skrillex did something creative the growl thing on that track making it sound actually interesting, unless these other guys who sound like default Massive presets.
This whole dubstep thing and how people react to it amuse me.

How is that trolling? Rusco created what is known as 'brostep' today, and it was even more terrible and dull than Skrillex. At least he makes it fun. These guys did unbearable crap.

haha all this bickering aside, I used to completely denounce electronic music until a friend dragged me to see sonny, the ridiculous energy of the whole show was enough to convince me to stop the other projects I was working on to devote everything to edm.

Started out as a vocalist in an electronica/rock group...wanted to have more control over the music made so started learning production.. Have bounced around many different genres since then.

Also bichez.

Listening to some of QuantumDNB's uploads and thinking how on earth is this music made about 3/4 years ago. I guess thats why some of my favourite tracks in the genre are those old Quantum uploads still!

a random programme that came with my Atari ST got me interested, you had to use musical scores and synths to make music. was pretty damn intense since i was 8 but kinda learnt how to use it, then wen i was a early teen i used Music 2000 on the PSX. then i got FL nearly 10 years ago and haven't stopped using it.
funny that using something advanced got me interested in producing then i end up using fruityloops and make brostep after all this time :6:
