I think it's a bit difficult to call out all of Old School Hip Hop because the lyricism isn't quite there yet. They were finding the genre's feet so the rest could build on it... it's a bit like saying the Sex Pistols are overrated just because Rage Against The Machine happened. Hip-hop was just starting out so obviously the lyricism wasn't on today's level... but most hip-hop heads will refer back to KRS-One and Rakim as THE GREATEST LYRICISTS EVER and modern rappers don't even compare. Probably his only album I didn't listen to 50 times. I bought it and it just kinda sat there. Someone mentioned the RDJ album, but I love that album. That's one I have listened to beginning to end more times than I can remember. And yeah like Rossz is a good album, but also kinda cheesy and people hype it up with 'BREAKBEATS WITH CLASSICAL SAMPLES'.. pretty much what hip-hop producers have been doing since the early '90s. And shit, not even the first breakcore artist to do it (and it's been done a lot more subtley too)
