That is because they are all putting words in my mouth that I never said. I never told noone what they should produce, or said that Coki isn't versatile. Wtf are you people on about?
The tune's that Coki has got forthcoming on Ringo, Mad Head etc in a few weeks are nothing like Spongebob and Roadrage, and he's got other tune's coming out on other labels that are nothing like Spongebob etc so what you saying now?
I've never claimed that Coki isn't capable of making completely different tunes. Quite the contrary, it's that he's capable of so much that makes me wonder. What I'm saying is that he's been giving us the same stuff for too long, and after Benny's response I've been discussing the reasons behind it (re Benny's comment and what I wrote in my previous post). Seriously guys, could you do me a favour and read what I've written again?

In any case, I'll be looking forward to hearing these tunes that are nothing like Spongebob as you say.

WTF are you on about, people aint feeling your shit because it's shit. LOL
I'm basing my comments on everything that you've written, not what other people are ''putting in your mouth''.
Your saying that he's been feeding you the same shit for a bit too long so i'm showing that he will be serving you with different stuff very soon you mug.

Anyway your arguments dead like Elvis

You said that "so many people weren't feeling what I'm saying". I'm saying that that's cos they are misunderstanding me and claiming that I said stuff about Coki that I never said. Quite simple.

And there's really no need for playground disses just cos I criticized one of your favourite artists.

Albeit this forumbiz is all new to me

In my day it was:

go out, dance, get off the nut, catch joke, have fun.

"sorry mate it's not out yet" was the most popular answer to dubplate questions. IF you were lucky.

Trainspotting was confined to the railway.

Some say there was a better atmosphere in those days.

So that's progress for you.

It's all good though, carry on ladies and gents. (inc. me)
Heh, this is the only forum I actually post on and thats because I fuckn love this music - when I first came here I felt that its members had a certain amount of respect. The same respect I found in Dubstep raves which I have only been frequenting for the last year.
Dutty Yuppie wrote: I swear the internet can be both a curse and a blessing for music.
Look how long Rave etc took to go global and now look at Dubstep after a handful of years!

I remember the 1st time I heard Spongebob - on the bus, on an Ntype mix - he pulled it bare times, My head was all over the place - tune... is... SICK!!!

I think I know the tune being discussed - it has a simular sound, so what? He's making some fatty beasts that send people mental, and guess what - he's doing it without wobble and as someone said, THESE TUNES ARNT OUT YET! I cannot wait for DMZ this weekend, just so I can go mental to these tunes!

Like Chef says buy what you like, go see the DJ's you like, moan about what you like but don't expect not to get called for talkin shit about one of the most respected producers on the scene without a valid point!

Right. Beginning to wish I had ignored this thread after all like I usually do.

As regards to sand leaper:

Well I guess that you have a right to your own opinion like we all do.

The main thing is what is the point posting on a thread if you don't like the tunes Mr. Coki is making at the moment, other than just a quick note to say you ain't feeling his current direction.

It's not going to make a blind bit of difference it's just negative vibes.

As Chef has kindly pointed out, Coki has many other styles in the bag, some ready for imminent release, so it's not been THAT long after all has it now?

I know it's only a discussion, but I happen to think you are going a bit over the top in order to win the argument or for whatever reason.

I don't expect you to listen to me either.

It's just a case of general VIBES bro, If you don't like several tunes a producer is making then don't buy the records and don't listen to them in the dance.

No-one is inflicting these beats onto you deliberately.

And the only reason I posted at all is that I thought you were WRONG and that the points levelled at Coki's productions were INCORRECT as such.

It is these largely pointless statements that create a negative vibe on this usually positive forum, and that's the reason it is as popular as it is.

And for the record, most producers don't even bother to check these threads, they just look at the amout of posts and views and think right! That was popular, I better make some more tunes along them lines.

I'm back over the hideout, it's much nicer in there.

:D

If you don't like anyone's work, whatevere it is, just don't buy it. Just because I don't like certain things doesn't mean I will post on forums and talk shit about things I can't even change. Seriously, I don't like Picasso's paintings, but I'm not going to phone him and tell him he's fucking shite*!

What I meant to say is that if you don't know how the sound sounds, make it better yourself.

*I'm well aware of the fact that the good lad is long gone.

dubwise_gamgee wrote:produce or stfu: well yeah, of course there is some point to that, but i think, in terms of dj-music, it is more effective to take action or change something by not buying certain records or not playing them out.

i produce a lot of muic but am not planning on releasing any dubstep music (at least not at this point), just because it simply isn't ready or good enough to be pressed on wax or even sold digitally. for myself, i change this music and i enjoy my interpretation of the dubstep vibe, but not very many people will hear that the coming weeks or months or (maybe even) years! ;)

i'm a producer and i take it seriously (but more in other fields than dubstep to be honest), but even if I WEREN'T A bloody PRODUCER i could still critize the shit out of every tune or artist on this planet. i don't care who did what or if he's a bigman, badman, don or croydon-bred (hehe), all i care about is if i like the tune, think it's creative and fresh. (and sounds good, sonically, but that's not the most important factor).

no "produce yourself or stfu" could stop me from doing that, seen?
So you actually know there's absolutely no positive outcome if you tell the public that you don't like something and still do it?

What the hell is wrong with you? Just don't buy the sound and leave it to it.

Jaysus, ever heard of discussing things? Y'know telling each other what you think about things and all that sort of stuff?

I mean, I'm not going to get into protracted bitching, but people should be able to say what they think of stuff without getting shat on for somehow disrupting the whole global progression of dubstep by voicing a negative opinion.

What do you think a forum is for? Trust me, I don't come on here to begfriend every producer and I've criticised my fair amount of tracks. I think 50,000 Watts is shit and I could have hugged Loefah when he remixed it, but Matty G is a badboy for producing Bitter Love and For The Smokers. And I can't deny that when 50,000 Watts comes on, people go mental! I'm not gonna start saying Matty G is taking the easy route by using screwed and chopped samples - that's his style and it works!

Call a tune shit if you want, defend your opinion if you want, but don't come up with some next level statement that's not true and expect people to accept it.

You can't call up Picasso because he's dead...but you can tell Coki you ain't feeling his tune if you want. That's called free speech. How often and the extent to which you exercise that right determines how much of a tnuc you're gonna look to people.

That's true bro, but we're not trying to shit on no one, just stating the fact that the whole global progression of dubstep isn't about to collapse because of the tune and/or producer in question.

Anyway, I should go and do something other than splitting hairs on the internets, innit.

it can sometimes be a thin (and treacherous) line between commenting on the nature of an artists production from a personal perspective, and the architypal armchair critic who cannot empathise with the producer and shows no understanding for the context in which the tunes are being made. i really dont think sand leaper is being the latter (assuming i'm understanding wat he/she's saying!)

for me a parallel can be drawn between coki and shakleton. i think shakleton is a phenomenal producer. however i certainly was becoming tired of the considerable number of tunes he made which were built on the undoubtedly similar percussive structure. but that definitely isnt to say that i didnt rate them all individually very very highy, because i did! but rather that i wish he would use those skills he's developed pursuing and mastering that style of percussion in a different way. and, as it happened, he did with 'you bring me down' on skull006, which for me is by far the best thing he's done.

i too rate coki very highly as a producer, and frankly i'm in awe of his apparent modesty and anonymity, nevertheless, i personally would fucking love it if he used his skills to produce something quite distinct. that said, i also fully understand that he just may not feel to, completely fair enough. though i feel it no disrespect for me to still have that preference.

no dont get me wrong, i wasnt saying spongebob is like alot of other coki tunes. but even with the fair few tunes that are exceptions i can still understand someone desiring a next vibe from a producer, especially someone as good at coki.
